James
Those eyes held many nightmares, those that I couldn't even fathom in my own slumber. He seemed scary but why the hell did he have despair in his eyes? Like he was desperate to not hurt me. Did he do that just because he was afraid of who I'd found him to be? What... why did I help him fly away? Why didn't I capture him or stun him long enough for dad to get there?
Suddenly that beast turned to my mother. Her beast form. She cowered away, whimpering like a pup cornered in fear.
'Ma...' I heard my own voice. Could a creature, really be cornered to fear by humans so horribly that their own existence could fear them?
Then, mum disappeared and what showed was my brother's face. His pale face and he reached out.
'James... James, I'm scared..' He called and I, for the first time, saw tears in his eyes.
'Albus..' My own voice echoed.
"Shit! Albus!" I gasped at my own loud voice, sitting up in an infirmary room. Memories of the past night were already rushing in but it was Mum who came in my sight first, taking me out of the whirlwind of the night before.
"James?" She spoke so lowly, as if to not let the harshness of a whisper slash in or the thumping sound of a loud booming sound either.
"Mum... what happened?" I gulped.
"You came home with Adrian all hurt. Are you okay?" She asked, leaning in lightly.
"Did I worry you?" I asked.
"Well, I was a little frantic." She laughed.
"I'm sorry, Mum."
"Don't be honey." She caressed my chin, "Your arms were broken so they're going to be bandaged for a day. You head's going to hurt more in a bit, since you suffered a concussion and that's going to last a few days."
"So that's why the lights are dim and you're mumbling?" I asked and she pursed a smile.
"I need you to drink this. It'll heal your arms faster." She offered a silver cup and I drank from it. The juice was bitter but I swallowed quickly, "Here." She raised a spoon with pudding which I quickly took in my mouth, feeling how cold and soft it was that it melted, "I figured chewing hard food might annoy."
"This is so good." I hummed.
"See, I'm getting better at deserts." She smiled, raising another bite for me.
"You'll get mad at me when I get better, won't you?' I realized and she held her laugh.
"No." She blinked genuinely, "I'm just happy you're okay."
"What about Adrian?"
"August is with him. He's better than you. He said, and I quote, James is the most reckless creature on this planet and when he recovers, I'll kill him." She finished and I rolled my eyes.
"Such a drama queen."
"Well, he feel responsible."
"Why? I can take care of myself."
"Hmm. So, similar situation, if you were with Albus and he was in risk, would you not worry?" She teased and I looked away. She had no idea how heavy her words were right now.
"Are.. are they here? Albus and Lily?"
"Back home. Your father insisted the kids stay at home. Candice and Mason were over."
