Albus
I was home since another trial was coming my way in two days. The weekend was starting so I didn't have to attend my Friday lectures and came home the night before. The house felt so silent without James and Lil. It was early that I'd woken up and Mum and Dad were yet to come down for breakfast. So I made the eggs, waffles and toast, along with a few sausages. The coffee was brewed and sitting in the pot in the maker.
"Albus, you're up early." I looked up at Mum as she came down the last step wearing her black trousers and a t-shirt.
"Morning." I sighed.
"Honey. What is it?" She sat on the seat next to me. Since I was facing away, she rubbed my back.
"I messed up, Mum."
"Hmm, what do you mean?" She asked and I turned in my seat. She had a small pout on her face, a worried one and she seemed so tired.
"I hurt Can. I lied to her and I made her feel like I couldn't share secrets with her. She even broke up with her boyfriend and I think she broke our friendship along with it. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do anymore and because of all this, I haven't even been able to face her for three days now." Everything just poured out of me and I flinched when she touched my cheek.
"I never knew there was this kind of emotion in you." Her surprise had a sad smile and she showed wetness on her thumb.
"Mum." I groaned.
"Do you really like Candice that much?"
I couldn't even deny it anymore.
"Yes." I looked up and her smile made her eyes relax as well, "I really... care for Candice."
A loud stumble sounded and we watched dad barely catching himself on the floor. He stared at us, wide-eyed.
"Did.. you.... He... likes... Uh..."
"Honey. English." Mum smiled and he cleared his throat, "Listen to me, darling. Candice is a wonderful girl with an ego the size of your head. You left her out of whatever it was and she really felt hurt. Even if you couldn't tell her the secret, you could've told her that you had something to hide but you were just bound and couldn't tell." She curled a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"She said the same thing." I nodded, feeling pathetic.
"You have to face her again or you'll lose her for good. She'll feel worse thinking that she has no right to ever disagree or be mad at you. Do you want that?"
I shook my head.
"Mum. I have a request." I looked up and she nodded, "Since I'm not going to be seeing her before the task, can you tell Professor McGonagal to not let her come with Scorpius and Rose?"
I knew my request would hurt her but I just would be distracted by her sitting there, watching, probably puffing mad.
"Maybe you should talk to her first..." Dad started but I shook my head, "Al..." I turned to him, bent over the table with hands holding him up.
"Yes?" I waited and he sighed.
"I'll let Ed know to hold her invite."
It hurt to hear that but it was important. Seeing her there would just... be too difficult.

"What is the next task?" I asked, sitting in the waiting lounge of the Wizard's Training centre.
