Mason

"Hehe. Dad's gonna kill me." I chuckled, secretly finishing my bottle of firewhiskey. I loved that drink, it really wasn't my fault, "Ah, I miss sharing a drink with that little minx. Where is she?" I thought of Candice, walking back to school, "Such a pain in my ass. Ever since she got those two idiots, she's-" My thought ran back down my throat when I saw her crouched on the last rock by the shore of the lake, staring at the water like she'd finally realized that getting a lip piercing in the future would be a bad idea.

"Tan-tan-tada!" I sang, dropping beside her and she looked up, stopping me from smiling further. Her eyes so wet that my anger instantly flared up, "Break up." I ordered.

"Huh?" She sniffled.

"With both of them. Jason and Albus." I bit out and she rested her head on my shoulder.

"Okay."

I stiffened.

"Wait, for real?"

"Mhmm." She nodded, "I'm not a good person or a strong girl, Mason. I'm fourteen. I'd like to make mistakes or look like a bitch. I'm not going to put up with this. If they're worried about me, then maybe I should remove myself from the equation so there's no need to protect me or whatever."

"You really hate being lied to that much?" I asked.

"Who doesn't, Mason?" She sighed.

"I'll agree on one condition." I added and she hummed, asking me to proceed, "You won't turn weird or get a ridiculous lip or tongue piercing. I love a kiss with a stud but ugh... it'll look so weird on you." I sighed and she laughed, smacking my chest.

"So, does our dear Christopher have any piercings?" She teased and I laughed.

"Man, nothing works on that dude." I sighed.

"Are you sure he's gay? I think he's straight." She giggled.

"Don't enjoy this so much." I pouted and she chuckled, straightening.

"Mason, you're fifteen, you just figured you might be gay. You haven't even kissed a boy yet. The only person you've kissed is me and I'm a girl." She pursed her lips.

"You sure?" I taunted and she smacked my head, "Ugh. So mean."

"Look, first we've gotta confirm whether you're gay. You can't just declare that you're gay."

"Ugh. I even went as far as pretending to date you so I could get a reaction out of Chris." I felt embarrassed at my own stupidity, "Instead the dipshit started ignoring me more."

She laughed, throwing her head back and I pushed her, almost making her fall off the rock and into the lake if I didn't take her arm. She kept laughing however.

"And you thought he liked you."

"Yeah, I mean, maybe he was ignoring me because it hurt him too much to see that I was a taken man. But I'm glad you came to your senses." I sighed. Candice suggested that maybe Chris was feeling awkward because he thought that I was gay, then it was smart to break up.

"Look, he's in our house, we have a good chance of trying again, just first,  you have to be sure of this." She pouted.

"You repulse me, I think I'm gay."

"I don't know if that's a compliment or plain pure insult." She gave me a flat look and I shook my head.

"You're the hottest girl I know but I don't want to date you. The idea repulses me. However, Albus is an eye candy."
