Professor McGonagall was the one who greeted and informed me that Candice came through a while ago and I could head for lunch. I carried my bag with me, since it was my school stuff and headed for the great hall. I was excused for the rest of my day, so I could just drop my stuff off later. I was just running down the main stairs when I found Jason walking across, by the bottom.
"Jason?" I called and he paused. He looked up at me and his eyes widened. To say I wasn't shocked when he jumped up and hugged me was an understatement.
"You're alive!" He moved back, panting. He jumped three stairs at a time.
"I think so. Merlin, I didn't think you'd miss me." I gulped, catching my breath.
"I.." He released a breath, "I heard you and Can were... sick... I had no idea what was going on."
"Ah. Can's fine. Don't worry. She's probably in there, having lunch." I tapped his shoulder.
"I'm freaked about both of you! Are you okay? How'd it go? Your trial?"
"Well, to be honest, I've managed a full transformation. It's a white leopard." I beamed and he laughed.
"Show me someday?" He asked as if a secret.
"Someday." I grinned, "You look like you're itching to hug me again. You're not, are you?"
"What.. no... pfft... no..."
"Jason, you're so weird, dude." I tapped his head, realizing he wore no water or gel to fix them. He laughed as we walked down the stairs.
"H-Hey, guys." Mason looked up at us but he wasn't smiling. Just solemn. Unlike the real Mason.
"Hey." I smirked. We walked down but Mason wasn't looking at me. I looked behind us but then realized it was Jason who was returning the frown.
"Well, there you are!" We heard another squeal from behind us and Candice came running down in her robes.
"Well, well, look who's back from their nap!" Mason laughed, completely changing and running around, holding her up and twirling her in a hug, "Ugh, lemme look at you? Still pale and ugly?"
Candice giggled.
She seemed happy so I was a bit relaxed as well. It still hurt to remember what she went through because of me. She was stuck with me and got herself into this. If only I hadn't refused her entry to my trial, she wouldn't have been a subject to such misery. Jason hugged her next and she thanked them for their care towards her.
"Hey, Can, how are you?" I asked as she approached me.
"Better than you, I think." She had a teasing look on her face.
"I bet."
Jason and Mason were staring at us and Candice groaned.
"We need a minute! God, read the room, honestly!" She scolded and Mason waved hands walking away. Jason gave Candice another pat before leaving us alone.
"Term's about to end." I spoke after we were alone.
"I know."
"Turns out, I'm a leopard." I added again.
"I know that too."
"D-do you have classes today?"
"No." She answered, "Which brings me to my question. Will you come meet me in the forest after lunch? I'd like to talk in privacy." She cocked a brow.
