"What do you think is happening?" I heard a voice in the turning corridor by the end of the one leading away from the headmistress' office, "I mean, I know he has an exam but they were going to declare his first active trial."
"Can, you're tossing on about nothing." Scorpius' calm voice came, "Everything is fine. I'm sure it will be nothing that Al can't handle. He's got Mr. Potter helping him through, right?"
"Scorpius, you can be such a dim wit. What can Uncle Harry possibly do? He has no control over these trials."
"Well, what did your dad say about these trials?"
"He refused to disclose." Her whine came.
"And then, what did you do to him?" Scorpius asked with a sigh.
"Simply threatened to reveal a few secrets to mum." She spoke with pride in her voice.
"And he caved?"
"Absoluteley not. So, I told mum everything and then locked his food away. After a day, he caved a bit."
"You are cruel to your father." Scorpius sounded horrified.
"I did feel bad when he slept in my room but you should've seen his face." She cackled.
"I don't know how you do this to him or how he endures it. My father would be furious with every tantrum."
"It's the perks of being an only child and daughter." I rolled around the corner and they laughed. Candice pushed past Scorpius and leapt at me, taking me by surprise. It always scared me when someone hugged me and Candice seemed to do the most of it. After a few twenty, I was starting to take less surprise by each embrace.
"Are you okay?" She spoke, moving back. Scorpius was standing in his uniform, wearing the brand new jackets that'd been introduced for the boys at school. Blazers that fit our bodies and stood well in winters.
"I'm fine." I chuckled.
"And I do it all for the betterment of the world." She crossed her arms.
"I'm sure of it." I grinned and she blushed. She was... cute.
"So, can you tell us about your first task?"
"Guys!" I turned to find Rose running to us and she gulped, finally catching her breath.
"Are you okay?" Her hair in a bun but still a mess. A pen sticking by her ear and when she jerked up straight, it poked her eye. She yelped and blinked hard, which was when Scorpius kindly removed the pen from her ear and our eyes widened when in a single clutch of his fist, he snapped it in half. I eyed Candice who was fighting a smirk with wide eyes.
"You shouldn't wear something so sharp, so close to your eyes." Scorpius spoke, a little irritated.
"S-Sorry."
I gasped and Candice clutched my arm, doing to same.
"Did Rose just seem intimidated?" She hissed.
I nodded, stunned myself.
"Holy Merlin." She whispered and Rose glared at her. She hid behind me and we chuckled.
"So, what happened with the trial? How did your exam go?" Rose asked, changing the topic.
"Aced it." I spoke pridefully.
"Is that so?" Candice gave a flat look.
"Yes. I'm not an idiot." I squinted.
