"No." I rejected the idea instantly, "I will not fight you."
"It's not a request." Mum spoke, shaking, herself, "Eddie. Please."
"Ginevra, stop." Dad started.
"Eddie. Please." She forced a smile and he rustled and growled before turning into a Hippogriff. And then he clawed the two reluctant recipients and flew away with them.
"No. Please. No." I shook my head. She walked ahead and cupped my face.
"It's okay. You're not going to kill me." She smiled, "You'll fight for me to live. Just the way you're preparing this whole thing for."
"So... so... I face you but... I protect you and stop you from hurting others."
"Bingo." She smiled.
"I'm scared." I chuckled a breath.
"I guess that kind of warms me a bit. Maybe you do love me after all." She smiled, her tears brimming.
"I do. I'll take care of you, Mum. I swear." I gulped and she grinned, a tear falling. She pushed me and went away.
"I'd appreciate if you don't watch this." I shut my eyes and sat on the floor as the first bone snapped. My heart was breaking just at her grunts, tears, and cries. How could she endure this every time? How... she wailed and I clutched my ears. When a growl was confirmed, I opened my eyes, just in time to roll and dodge her on coming attack.
"I guess you didn't take proper dosage." I mumbled. She ran for me again and I rolled between the wolf's legs, running for the other tree. She pulled out her claw from the tree and huffed at me. Her drool fell from between those sharp teeth and eyes glaring at me, like she was starving. She kept attacking me and all I did was dodge until my stamina started to catch up to me. Now, she was coming for me again and I was standing with a catch of my breath, "Alright, that's enough." I gulped and put everything into my transformation.
Then it happened. My body and my strength killed me. However, I wasn't standing on my feet anymore and my claws weren't the only thing growing. I was in complete transformation, now a white leopard. I was sure of my species somehow. My little rumbling growl came out as I circled the one predator. The wolf came for me again and I dodged her again. She was begging for me to hurt her but I... I couldn't hurt Mum. She lunged at me and without thought, I went under, kicked her shin making her fall. Crawling on top, I held her head down under my paw.
Go to sleep. Go to sleep.
She raised an arm and I kicked it away, jumping off.
You're a strong one, huh.
We went on, her chasing me for what felt like a century, until I felt exhausted and it seemed, so did she. I crawled up a tree and sat on a branch as she exhausted herself from looking and finally curled on the ground.
Sleep. I'll watch over you. Though exhausted, I kept myself awake, watching her snore away.
Night, Mum.
As the dawn peaked, I heard ruffling and hopped on the floor, ready to pounce until Barnsite's face showed with Candice and Eddie.
"You... you fully transformed." Candice's face was pale and I stared at Mum. Turning away, I heard more creaking and groans.
"Done." Candice called and Mum sat up, now wearing a pair of pants and t-shirt, along with the cloak she'd given Candice. I realized that Candice had changed Mum. Dad could've but as if he felt wrong to be Barnsite, he didn't even look. I wondered how much could his possessiveness could go. And now I had the answer. Even if this wouldn't affect anybody, he still couldn't let another man's eyes or hands touch his wife. Eddie wasn't a problem. He could've told him the truth but I guess, he just wanted to protect Mum so much.
