That night, as promised, I sat with Candice in our common room with our bottles of liquor and some more candy. She was still down but I had to cheer her up somehow. I wanted her to relax and know that the person she feared was hating her was actually pretty calm. He had said that he would wait till Candice was ready to see him because he missed the times they would study in the library together and other stuff they would do that didn't involve what couples usually do.
"So... I did something." I started and she cocked a brow, looking away from the fireplace, turning to me. I gulped hard and she squinted at me.
"What did you do now?" She asked.
"Well, you see, yesterday... after dropping you off, I kinda sorta ran into Jason. I was feeling sad at his face so I took him out for some whiskey by the lake." I kept staring at my bottle, scared of making eye contact.
"And?"
"Huh?" I looked up.
"And?" She had a small eased smile on her face, "Do you like him?"
"Huh?"
"I'm just asking if you like him. You guys never really interacted much while we were dating but now that you met him, do you like him?"
"D-Do you want me to like him?" I knew what she meant but I was still a little wary on how to respond.
"Yes. He's an amazing guy. He's sweet, and definitely has a mysterious side which can prove why he's in Slytherin. If you liked his company, you should take him out every once in while. I mean, who knows, he might actually approach and invite someone for the first time." She shrugged.
"Wait, so you're saying he never took the lead?" I blinked in confusion.
"Yeah. But, I found it sweet that at least he showed up, you know. And tried his best to make it worth it." She smiled.
"He isn't so bad."
"I know." She laughed.
"So, you're not mad?"
"Of course not. I want him to stay a part of us. I like having him around and so does everyone else. Besides, we promised each other that if things screw up between us, he wont cut our group off. Albus is an idiot so maybe you can keep him close till he's used to it on his own." She pouted.
"W-What? No. I.., no. I like him but I cant take that responsibility on."
"Dont be annoying. You took him out for whiskey, just do it more often. He'll automatically join you for lunch and dinner, feeling guilty of avoiding." She blinked and I frowned.
"You're sinister and what if I don't want to hang out with him all the time?"
"Oh." She blinked, "Sorry. Well, its okay. It's not like I'm letting him go anywhere anyway." She sipped at her drink. Of course I couldn't tell her that I wanted to hang out with him again since he did something that no one had been able to do to me yet. He made my heart skip a beat in a weird way. Like it was unusual for someone to seem so genuine and it was terrifying. He was a little terrifying in that aspect. I didn't mind being his friend but I couldn't spend as much time on him as Candice was asking me to.
"Well, how do you feel now? I didnt see you out all day."
"I had a fever so I excused from classes as well. Madame Pomfrey gave me some potion but still, its normal human body issue so she cant heal it. I spent the day in the dorm."
