"No Hunter, not this time! I can't just forgive you every time you hurt me!" You scream over the phone, tears streaming down your face.
"Baby, I swear nothing happened..."
"And how many times have I heard that?" You cut him off, suddenly too exhausted to fight. "Hunter, this just isn't working, with you on tour... It's just too much."
"Wait, what are you trying to say?"
"I'm saying... I'm breaking up with you. Goodbye Hunter." You hang up the phone before he can say anything else, before you change your mind. Then you fall down on the couch and sob into a pillow. You cry until your whole body hurts and you have no energy left, then you drift into a fitful sleep full of Hunter. Already you miss him so much.

Your dream turns into a nightmare after a while, seeing Hunter with another woman, kissing her, loving her. She was beautiful, looked like the perfect girl. You always had insecurities about yourself about how you looked and pointed out every "flaw". Knowing Hunter could have anyone, really made you even more self conscious. So to hear about "other girls" it really hurt, even if they weren't true. You always didn't let Hunter explain, he could do better than you even though you loved him so much. You woke up breathing hard and with sweat on your brow. Lovely. You tried going back to sleep when you heard something fall in the apartment you and Hunter shared. You sat up alarmed, watching the door.
Your breathing seems to amplify as you sit in the dark. The noises continue and you reach under your bed for the baseball bat you've kept for just in case. Slowly and silently you get out of bed and move to the door, your frame pressed tight to the wall. The knob turns and starts to inch open. You are frozen stiff, holding your breath. Then you hear the intruder softly calling your name.
"Hunter?" You ask. The door jerks open and the light is thrown on, you squint to see, Hunter wears a tired look of shock on his face.
"What are you doing here?" You ask as he exclaims, "what do you think you're doing sneaking around brandishing a bat!"
He reaches out and takes it from your hands, which is probably a good thing because now that the surprise has worn off the anger has returned.
"What are you doing here." You repeat through gritted teeth.
"I came to talk some sense into you, to give some answers that you wouldn't accept over the phone. I didn't expect to be attacked by a wall of boxes in the living room, what's that all about?"
"I told you, we are done, I'm leaving."
He looks at you with an exasperated look in his eyes. "Babe, please. Nothing happened."
You scoff, "Hunter, something happened."
He sigh, he is tired and exhausted, "the only thing that happened was she came on to me. I told her I had you and immediately, she stopped. Someone must have caught a picture. Babe, I love you, why do you think that I don't?"
You sigh, moving back to the bed.
"You don't think I love you? I just flew from Canada to save this relationship and you're not even going to talk?!"
He runs his hands through his hair, you look down at your hands. Anger had passed, sadness replacing it. "Fine.." He turned to the door, opening it.
"...You shouldn't love me." You murmur to yourself, hearing Hunter freeze.
"What?" Hunter turns around.
You have tears running down your cheeks so fast you can't see a thing. "Nothing." You reply, sniffing.
Hunter strides across the room and kneels at your feet, peering into your eyes.
"Babe, why do you do this to yourself? Why do you think it isn't possible to be loved?"
Your throat closes up and you try to catch your breath. You feel like someone is squeezing your whole body. You need to get out of here. You jump up and run from the room, out into the patio, catching cool, night air in your lungs. Realizing too late that there is no escape from the patio, only the door which Hunter is coming through. You look down to the city lights below, you should have ran out the front door.
You watch the city lights as you wipe the tears from your eyes. You hear his rapid footsteps till he comes onto the patio with you. You bite your lip as you feel his arms wrap around your waist, his chin resting on the top of your head.
"Baby? Why do you think it's impossible for me to love you?"
You let out a small whimper, closing your eyes tightly, "You don't deserve me, Hunter. There are so many other beautiful girls-"
"I don't want them."
"Hunter-"
"No, can't you see that they aren't you. They aren't the girl who laughs at my not-so humorous jokes, they're not the girl who stays up late with me when I can't figure out what chords or lines to write, they aren't the girl who waits at the airport with a warm cup of coffee for her boyfriend who's barely there for her but she still loves and it doesn't matter because she knows he's doing what he loves and that's all that matters. They aren't the girl who I get to come home to, to curl up on the couch watching movies or to watch asleep in bed. They aren't you."
By now, you had tears pouring down your cheeks again.
"They aren't the girl I love with all my heart and soul."
All the little things. Hunter loved you for all of the little things you did. Hunter loved you. Hunter loves you. Your thoughts dance apart and come together. Is it possible?
Seeming to answer your thoughts Hunter turns you around and kisses you, passionately. He doesn't let you go until your lungs are about to burst from lack of air. You let out something between a laugh and a sob, throwing your arms around Hunter you pull him close and breathe in his scent, smiling against his chest.
"I love you." You say, the words sound muffled as they vibrate off of his body.
"To the moon and back?"
"To the moon and back." You smile.
