The night air adds a little chill to your already jittery body and your mind is racing. It took a while to find a spot to park and while the walking can't be helped you feel hyper aware of the world around you, of all of the people heading to the same destination. You wonder if any of them know the man up on stage tonight, if Hunter's nose looks completely better after the scuffle. You hope he didn't get in too much trouble for it, he seems to have kept the incident quiet and even when you looked you couldn't find any news articles on the fight. You hope he still doesn't blame you or regret asking you to come tonight, and that he didn't send the tickets based on his word but because he still wanted you there. As you step inside and take in the beauty of your surroundings you wonder if he will even notice you in the crowd. Maybe tonight is just another night for you to be completely alone.
You walk through the giant oak doors and down the aisle trying to find your seat. C- something or other. You move into your section to find it directly in front of the stage. You'd have the best view. You look at your ticket to see what seat number and you go to find your seat. It's right in the middle of the section in the first row. He'd be able to see you closely and that made your stomach turn flips. The thought that he'd soon be in front you makes you more nervous than when you met him at the bar.
He's not on until farther along in the program and you sit back and watch the openers. You don't recognize who they are but they do some serious damage to your emotions with the heart wrenching songs they sing about pain and loss. Then they sing a song about a bar fight and you find yourself holding back laughter wondering if Hunter is thinking about his own bar fight, he could be since you're in the audience.
After what feels like an eternity the announcer finally announces Hunter and you draw in a breath. Will he look into the crowd? Will he see you?
He runs out in his familiar white shirt and jeans, smiling to the audience. When he reaches the microphone, he looks down and smiles, mouthing 'hi' to you and you can't help but mouth it back with a huge grin that he reciprocates. He starts in the first number, 21. You can't help but giggle as he gets into the catchy tune though dancing with his guitar and he smiles down at you as much as possible as he looks between the crowds of girls at each side of the stage on their knees with their phones out and you.
When he finishes up he smiles at the applause he receives, and then looks down at you. His nose looks perfectly fine and you feel relief wash over you. "Thanks guys, you know, I always feel so awesome when I'm up here on this stage and I can't tell you what it means to me to have you all here jamming along. For my next song I'm going to try to inspire something in you... That feeling of unpredictability that makes your pulse race and your mind spin. This is Wild Card and it's just for you." As he says the last line he looks directly at you and something flips in your stomach and your heart beats fast. You try to tell yourself he didn't mean what you think he meant when he winks. And for a second your heart does stop.
You watch him as he moves the crowd and the girls cheer as he walks over to them and touches their hands and sings to them but he looks over at you and grins a smile that is so genuine that your heart skips a beat. You can't believe he's doing this for you, no one really has noticed you before. The bar was one thing and it leads you to Hunter. You don't know how you deserve him.
After he sings Wanted and I Want Crazy he takes a bow and thanks everyone for coming. 'Back Corner' he mouths to you before he's gone. Several girls around you wonder what he was mouthing or why. You ponder it for a few minutes when it finally clicks. That's where the car was parked in the bar parking lot... Maybe he wants you to meet him in the far corner of the parking lot. It's a stretch... What do you have to lose? You start working your way to the exit, determined to get their before the crowds disperse after the last act.
