(Your pov)
Tonight was supposed to be magical. Your cousin and his wife dragged you along to this masquerade party so you could mix and mingle, instead you've been sitting in the corner trying not to be noticed by anyone. You finger the rhinestones on your light green dress and watch as people dance by, sometimes someone blocks your view and you crane your head around to watch. At one point a male dancer dips his partner so low that he can't get her back up. He drops her. You can't help it, you burst out laughing.
(Hunter's POV)
I was dragged to this masquerade with Sam. His girlfriend was going to be there and he wanted me to come to find a girl since I've been single for a while. I was standing in my black tux and mask, feeling no less than awkward, politely declining dances with the girls that came up to me as Sam stood with Hannah, talking. I looked around and saw a girl in a light green, sequined, dress. She was sitting by herself and felt pretty much like I did but she was very beautiful. I walked over to her and I smiled, "Would you like to dance?"
(Your pov)
"Um..." You look around the room before you look back at the hand being held out to you. "Sure?"
"I asked the question, can I get an answer?" Blue eyes dance beneath the silver mask and you adjust your matching green one in response.
"Okay." You take his hand.
"So..." He starts as he brings you out to the dance floor, "come here often?"
The absurdity of the question makes you burst out laughing.
"You have a nice laugh." He grins.
You blush deeply. "Thanks." You avoid his eyes as you move in time to the music. Out of the corner of your eye you see your cousin's wife watching you with a pleased smile on her face. You blush deeper and pull away. "I'm sorry I'm feeling a little light headed."
(Hunter's POV)
I watch her and help her back to where she was sitting, "Here.." I hold her hand and help her sit by holding her chair. "May I sit with you, Cinderella?" I blush, I didn't know her name so, Cinderella fit till I knew it. She stuttered out a sure. I sat beside her and I followed her eyes, "Did you get dragged here too or was that done by your fairy godmother?" I tried to make a joke in the silent conversation we had between us.
(Your pov)
You can't keep ignoring him, especially since he's sitting right next to you, making conversation. The comment about your fairy god mother makes you grin you imagine your cousin in a dress with wings and a crown. He deserves it after what he's put you through tonight.
"You sure do like to laugh a lot... Are you actually able to talk or is the smiling and grinning just about it?"
"Well you're one to talk!" You giggle, shoving his shoulder a little. "Everything coming out of your mouth is sass!"
"My friends call me sass monkey." He says seriously, his mouth setting as if he really means it. That's it, you double over laughing. Soon he joins in. "Maybe I should get you some punch, I wanna see if I can get liquid to squirt out of your nose." He gets up with a playful smile.
"Don't you dare!" You grin, following him.
(Hunter's POV)
I smile softly and hand her a glass of punch with a bow. "My lady.." She giggles and takes it from my hand and I grin, taking a sip from my own glass. I see a guy that's coming over to talk and I place my hand on her lower back and she looked at me curiously as I led her outside onto the balcony. "Sorry.." I removed my hand and moved it to the back of my neck, scratching it. I felt awkward, "..there was a guy coming over and I thought you'd want to be left alone..forgive me if I was wrong." I let my hand dropped to my side and I gave her a sheepish smile.
(Your pov)
"No I appreciate it, thanks." You look down at the tips of your shoes that peek out from underneath your dress. The soft music drifts out to where you stand. You close your eyes as a breeze sweeps over your body and your arms shiver slightly as the goosebumps show.
