Sometimes it's hard, having Hunter away. This time it just felt different, more unbearable. You wait for Hunter at the airport watching the clock and waiting for his flight to get in. You wish you could call him but his phone is off and he's enjoying the solitude. But that's not the only thing on your mind, outside the sky has been getting dark and you swear you saw a streak of lightning flashing in the distance... But if it does start to storm they'll turn his flight around... Right? You don't mind the distance if it's keeping him safe.

You sit worried for Hunter but then you hear the boom. You squeak silently and look around for some to hide. You start to shake and see the sign for the bathroom, hurrying inside the bathroom. You find a little corner and bury your head into arms as you pull your knees up. It's muffled but you can still hear it and you're thankful that no one is coming inside. You start to breath heavy and start to try to calm yourself down. You think of Hunter and wish he was there, he knew exactly how to calm you and make you feel safe when your terrified. You just hope he is safe.

Flights are read over the intercom and you hear Hunter's flight among the ones delayed, or actually diverted. You muster up the courage to sneak out of the bathroom to find a screen and check on the location of where it's been rerouted. Your heart aches for Hunter and your nerves shake from the storm.

Rain drives down on the windows and roof and it almost drowns out the discussions around the airport. You stand on your toes and try to see around the people crowding to check on their friends, co workers, and families flights. Where is Hunter's flight number?

You look at the numbers of flights only to get dizzy from looking at them so long. Where is Hunter's flight? You get pushed to the front of the line soon enough after looking so long. You ask the lady for Hunter's flight, to see if it's landed or been diverted.

"Uhh..the flight has landed miss. A few minutes ago actually. They should be all  deboarding now." Your head swims as you head to the gate.

You duck around people trying to get to the front of the crowd of people waiting and try to keep it together as the rain pounds and the thunder booms. All that matters is Hunter, his arms, his reassuring words. People continue to pass and the people waiting thin out as they find who they are looking for and soon your clutching the guard rail that keeps the line of foot traffic clear for the passengers. You walk around to the inside and peek down the stairs and escalators. You know it's the right flight... There's no way you missed him and he went on to baggage... While your standing there looking you feel a tap on your shoulder. When you turn you see his blue eyes and you immediately wrap yourself in his warm and firm arms.

You're pulled close to him, "Shh..I'm here." He holds you tight like you're about to disappear. Your face finds itself buried in his neck. You smell his cologne and start to relax into his arms.

"I was so worried.." You murmur against his skin, his hands running up and down your back.

"I'm right here, everything's okay now. Come on.." He leads you toward the escalator and you put your head on his shoulder, his arm around you as he carries his guitar with the other. He presses a light kiss to your forehead and you smile. You jump slightly hearing the thunder, "Shh..we'll be home soon, sweetheart."

"So... How was your trip?" You ask quietly as you walk into the parking garage, your arms still wrapped around Hunter's in a hug, your fingers and his woven together.

"Good, but I'm tired and happy to be home." He smiles down at you.

You nod in understanding, it's late and he just got off a plane. You wonder how you're going to get home if it's really that bad out.

"I'll drive." He offers.

"Are you sure?" You hesitate to hand him the keys.

"Yes. Besides, you don't drive in storms." "Okay." The keys are passed as you finally relent.
