You have been going to therapy for quite a while and majority it's been a little while since you've seen Hunter because he's back out touring though you've been texting a lot. You haven't told him you've been making a lot of progress and by progress meaning you can walk and your talking is much better. "(Y/n)!" Reader gets your attention, "we should give you a makeover and send you out there to surprise him!"

"O-okay." You stammer, not from the need but from the mere idea of what she has proposed. She squeals and sits you down at the makeup station in her apartment and you are reminded just what your friend does for a real job. She makes quick work with your makeup, praising you and your beauty and promising only to enhance and not cover up or change.

"Now... Clothes are a different matter..." She looks you over and shakes her head.

'I look like me.' You sign out of habit and she rolls her eyes with a giggle.

"Just... Trust me."

"Come on (Y/n), open your eyes!" You finally dare to look at your reflection in the mirror. You're wearing Hunter's leather jacket that he's left along with a maroon blouse and navy colored jeans with your favorite converse with Hunter's lyrics on them. Your hair is curled and the make up makes you look like a model. "Well what do you think Hunter will think to the new you?" You're speechless at how you look and you know he'll be speechless at just the sight of you walking and talking.

Even though you can walk mostly normal you still carry your fold up cane in your purse and even though you're speaking almost at a normal speed your read out machine is tucked away right next to the cane. 'Reader' leaves you at the airport with an excited wave and a smile, making you promise to send a picture of you and Hunter when you get there. Carefully you board the plane and hold your breath on take off.

You finally land in Illinois and get off the plane. You grab your things and head out for a cab with your nerves on end. You smile nervously at the cabbie, telling him where to go. You can't believe you're doing this. You turn your phone back on and instantly you get flooded of 'where are you texts'.

You bite your lip, texting him back, 'Illinois...'

Hunter texts you back a minute later, bombarding you with questions and a definite worry clearly shown in his messages. He ends with 'where in IL? Can I come get you?' You tense up as the cab pulls up to the event center he's playing at, 'I'm coming to you.' You leave him at that and ignore his next text, even when it turns into texts by the sound of your notifications blowing up. By the time you reach the main building Jill is already waiting with a coffee house pass in hand, much to your delight. 'Reader' is a very persuasive and amazing friend indeed, along with Jill and her ever abundant need to make everyone happy.

You hug Jill and she is shocked, "(Y/n), you are stunning!"

You blush, "T-thank you, Jill. How is Hunter?" You are cut off with a walkie talkie clipped on her waist goes off and you hear Hunter's voice.

"If anyone sees (Y/n), please bring her to me."

Jill grins and replies to him, "I'll bring her when I see her, you just get ready for coffee house Hayes. Don't make me get Dan."

"Ten-four ma'am. Over and out."

You can't help but laugh, "Is he always like this?"
