It's the first time you're going to bake with Hunter. He said it would be an amazing thing to do with you and he's wanted to learn because he can't bake anything that's not pre-made. He's been a very good friend and you're going to test a new recipe anyway so it's all good if it doesn't come out the way you want now, you can try again. You hear a knock at the door, that must be Hunter.

The grin on Hunter's face is as bright as your own as he opens the door, for a second it knocks you for a loop.
"... Can I come in?" He shuffles his feet, his hands in his jacket pockets to protect them from the nights chill, you must have froze longer than you thought.

"Of course! Come in!" He walks through the door and you close it, chastising yourself. 'What is wrong with you?!' Lately you've been asking yourself that a lot. Hunter and you have been friends for so long, but lately his smiles seem to make your insides twist and your always too aware of where he is or what he's doing when he's around.

"So, should we get started?"

You turn, realizing you've frozen again, "sure, here let me take your-"

"(Y/n), I know where to put my coat by now." He chuckles and walks farther into the house. You blush as you walk into the kitchen and grab the flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs, peppermint extract and red food coloring. "What are we making?" He walks in and you smile.

"Peppermint twists."

"Sounds a little difficult."

"Not really. I just want to perfect the recipe before the holidays you know, that and I just love peppermint."

He chuckles and walks behind the counter, "Should I crack open this bottle of wine you have here?"

I look over and smile, "Yes, sir. I like a glass of wine while I bake."

"Well if I'm leaning from the baker I must have one too." He pours two glasses and hands you one and you take it gladly.

"Thank you."

"Of course. Now let's try to teach me how to bake." He laughs

half an hour later one thing is clear, Hunter really is just about hopeless. A single glass of wine is about to turn into 2 and you shake your head at him and giggle, "come on Hayes, you're not even trying!"

"Am too!" He tosses a bit of flour in your direction and you dodge needlessly out of the way.

"Quit that!" You grin, pleased he's teasing you, this kind of attention seems new. He's always bugged you or poked fun at you but this friendly teasing seems comfortable and somewhat exciting.

"Can we just eat the dough now?" He whines and you toss some flour back at him, getting it in his hair.

"No, stop acting like a 3 year old and start rolling!" You instruct, holding back laughter. "Fine." He rolls his eyes but looks pleased as he tries again to roll out the dough like you showed him.

You take your red colored dough and roll it like a log and cut some off and some off his non colored dough. "Okay, I think we have it for now. Just take a bit of your dough like me and cross the red dough over it. It's like making candy canes."

He grins and you place yours on a cookie sheet, then he tries to do it himself. "Hey this is easier." His tongue sticks out his mouth slightly in his determination. You smile and refill your glasses and preheat the oven, humming to yourself. You didn't realize you were humming wanted till he started to sing the chorus quietly.
