(Your POV)
You sit on your parents porch, swinging from the old porch swing you used to swing from as a kid. You sigh and look down the road, you wonder what he was doing. Hunter. You had been childhood best friends but slowly it changed to just passing each other in the halls in high school. You'd see him get bullied and vice versa. You wish you weren't so shy. Now today, you're grown up. Five years from thirty, no boyfriend, a job and a dog. You seen how Hunter was doing wonderful in the music scene and it made you smile. Though you wish you kept in contact. You get up and start walking the familiar route to his old house.

(Hunter's PoV)
It's not often I find myself back in my old hometown, reminiscing on the good old days, or rather days where I wanted to curl up and disappear. I smile with pride as I walk down the street, I channeled that emotion into determination to reach for and achieve my dreams and leave the pain behind, and it worked. The only problem with that plan was I had to leave so much of what I loved behind, including her... I wonder what she's doing now. Probably married with a bunch of kids and a dog. Wherever she is, I hope she's happy and I hope that sometimes she thinks of me.

(Your POV)
You walk the road and look around seeing familiar things that you'd find time to spend time with Hunter. Like Mr. Collins pond where Hunter would chase fireflies with you or the patch of trees in Mrs. Walton's backyard where you'd play hide and seek. You sigh and pull your coat closer around your body, the wind blowing your sundress lightly. Your mom had told you it was supposed to rain so you grabbed your jacket. You're so happy you did. You look up the road to see someone walking towards you.

(Hunter's PoV)
She must be a figure of my imagination, as the first drops of rain begin to fall I see her skirt on her green dress billow in the wind. When we are finally in ear shot I call out her name and laugh a little. "What are you doing here?"

"Just out for a stroll." She replies so easily, pushing the hair out of her eyes.

"Me too, a walk down memory lane."

"So what are you doing in town?" She asks, the rain comes a little faster.

"I'll answer when we get under some cover." I point to a tree a good distance away, "race you!" I'm off like a shot and I can hear her laughing as she stays on my heel.

(Your POV)
You laugh as you move toward the tree, then finally dunking under it, "Beat you."

You look over at Hunter and smile. "Yeah..but by a hair. I could have caught you."

He leans against the tree and smiles. "Of course. I wouldn't doubt you, (Y/n)."

You grin and brush the wet hair from your face, "What is a superstar doing back home?"

You smile and he shrugs, "Needed some time back home. That and playing here. I missed it..the good things not the bad."

"The bad things make us who we are too.." You speak quietly.

(Hunter's PoV)
"True enough... So, who are you?"

"Old, single, proud owner of a dog named Henry."

I hide a smile, "Henry... That sounds pretentious."

"Well he's a very snide pooch."

I can't stop myself, I double over laughing. "You haven't changed a bit!"

"Not true!" She exclaims, "for one thing, I now stick up for people I see getting picked on!" She looks upset and I feel bad instantly, I was hoping she wouldn't remember. I never blamed her for keeping quiet, she didn't need more bad attention, what she really needed was more of mine. The thought wakes me up better than the cold rain did. Why wasn't I there for her?
