You toss and turn in the middle of the night. You can't get over that the person you pretty much love is one door over. Okay, lets back up to remind yourself how you got in this position. Hunter had invited you over to have dinner..as just friends. Much to your disappointment but you were not going to turn down a Hayes meal in any shape or form. He had offered you wine and you accepted gladly, that's how you've gotten in his guest room. He didn't want to take a risk with your drinking alcohol and driving. He's so sweet. He even offered a pair of pajamas, even sweeter. Though..it just sent your heart into a horse at derby day. You sighed, looking at the ceiling. The room was illuminated from the light outside but it soon disappeared..leaving you in the dark. Then, the thunder came. You were terribly terrified of thunderstorms but Hunter didn't know that. Your other friends poked fun at you for it. You hid under the covers until a great big boom came from the sky that sent you from the comfortable bed and out of the room with a scream. You went to his bedroom door to knock but it opened with a bed head Hayes in front of you, yawning. Before he could say anything, you threw yourself into his arms.

"(Y/n)? Are you okay?" He clutches you and looks back and forth down the hallway. "Is someone in here?"

You realize he's heard your screaming as you ran and he probably thinks you're running from someone. You shake your head, trying not to cry. "(Y/n), please tell me what's wrong."

A loud crack of thunder chooses to tell Hunter just what is wrong and you shriek and bury your head into his chest, grip tightening. A second later the corners of your eyes light up as lightning streaks through the sky. His grip tightens as well, "scared of the storm." All you can do is nod.

You whimper and he holds you tight, "Shh..it's okay. It's alright, I've got you, (Y/n). Nothing to be afraid of." You start to relax but then a boom of thunder makes itself known again and you squeal. He sighs and leads you inside his room. It's dark only being lightened up by the lightning outside, that and a telephone pole light. He leads you to the bed and helps you inside, you start to get scared again but it's because you're thinking he's going to leave you alone. "Hey..Hey..I'm not going anywhere. Promise." You nod and he gets into the bed beside you. You hear the thunder and you jump from both the noise and Hunter's arms moving around you so quickly.

"I-I'm sorry." You stammer as you start to draw back. "You'll think I'm ridiculous, but I'm frightened to death of storms." You brush a tear away that rolls down your cheek. "Go ahead and laugh, everyone else does."

"(Y/n), why would I laugh at you?" He feels for your face in the dark and when his fingers reach where your tears fell he gently brushes the streams away. It's such an intimate gesture it catches you completely off guard. The breath catches in your throat and in the dark you try to make out his features. Lightning strikes again and you find his deep blue eyes piercing into your own. You swallow reflexively and try to keep breathing. In a split second all is dark again.

You stutter out an "I don't know..it just happens. People think I'm a freak.."

You sniffle and he pulls you close to him, "You're not a freak, I'll tell you that. I'd never laugh about this, you're terrified. Hell, you're shaking..." you're shaking? You look down once the lightning illuminates the room again. Well, ain't that something. "(Y/n), we'll get though this. You don't have to face this alone. I'm right here, okay. Come here." He pulls you closer so you can rest your head on his chest. Well now deep under your fear you've got butterflies flying in your tummy. He starts to sing a made up parody of storm warning and you can't help but giggle. It helps you with the storm.

Your eyes start to drift closed but each strike of lighting or rumble of thunder tenses you up and a tear slides down your cheek, you're so tired, you just want to sleep. Hunter went quiet a little bit ago and you sniffle.
