You were getting ready for the concert tonight on the pier. It was Hunter, your best friend..or you still thought he was your best friend. You stayed in Louisiana, finishing up your college degree as Hunter left to be a star. He seemed to be doing well and one day you decided to call him but when he answered, you couldn't speak so you hung up. You sighed, running your hands across your dress and slipped on your sandals, walking to the pier. There were lots of girls and you sighed, getting a good spot seemed unlikely.
An hour still stood between you and the show but from what you could see from the mile and a half line of cars parked along the street it was going to be packed already. You sigh and look out over the surf, it looks so beautiful in the fading daylight. You take one more step and someone yells "look out!"
A hard object strikes your head and you stumble back, clutching the throbbing spot. At your feet is a yellow frisbee, you reach down and pick it up. "I am so sorry, my throw went a little wild are you o-" you look up.
"Hunter?"
"(Y/n)?" He asked his eyes wide but then he smiled, pulling you into a hug. You smiled, loving his embrace. He pulled back and smiled, "It's really good to see you."
"It's good to see you too." He was about to say something but someone yelled for him.
"Hunter! Come on, we've got to get ready for the show!"
He looked over his shoulder and then looked back at you, "Ahh, I've got to go." You nodded and he sighed, "How about you meet me later after the show? I really want to spend some time with you."
You smiled and nodded, "I'd like that." He smiled and then hurried to his bus.
You look down at your hands and see that you still have his frisbee, you shrug and smile. You can give it back later. You were right, the place is already packed when you get there. You end up in the back and because you aren't the tallest girl around you are unable to see him while he's on stage. Still he puts on a good show and even hearing him live makes you proud. You always knew he would make it. As the concert winds to a close you stop and wonder about how you are going to find him. You pull the frisbee out of your hand and turn it over and over. When he finishes you find yourself pushing to the front of the crowd, ducking and weaving until at least you are close to the front. Hunter is helping clean up his gear and set up for the next act. "Heads up!" You tell and toss the neon yellow disk.
You see him turn and him catch the frisbee. He chuckles nervously, "got it." You laugh and he smiles, "What did you think..about the show?" He always asked that when the both of you were younger and he always wanted your option.
You smiled at him, "wonderful as always." You had gone to some of his shows and he hadn't known you were in the audience. At least you didn't think he knew about it. There were times he'd scan the crowd and his eyes land on you for a bit longer than the rest of others.
"Good..don't want to disappoint you."
"You could never disappoint me. It's just not possible." He chuckled and gave you that signature smirk.
"Meet me by the bus in 10?" He stands from his crouched position on the stage and you flash a smile. "See ya there." Fighting back through the sea of people proves to be a greater challenge than getting to the front. By the time you escape the throng you have a short bit of time to charge to the area his bus is parked. You sit in the sand and stare out at the water, hugging your knees to your body as a slight breeze sifts through your hair and rustles your dress.
"Catch!" You put your hand in front of your face just in time to close your hands around the yellow toy.
"You know if I didn't catch that you would be in a world of hurt and an extreme amount of pure wrath."
