"You don't even have a plan." Emilio says to Raf. We are at a family dinner to meet Emilio's new wife. "Even Eva has a masters degree in psychology and was booked by several modeling agencies."
"Well as talented and beautiful as Eva is, I plan to go to Bora Bora next week. Actually Evs I needed ask if you would come with me" Raf says as the girl glued next to him keeps looking at him with awe and twirling her hair.
"Bora Bora? When are you going to get your life together. Look at your sister and best friend they are on the right path." Emilio says
"No thank you. I'm newly sober and they say alcoholics either end up in rehab, jail or dead. I chose rehab." Luisa says to the waiter pouring our drinks. Completely different from Emilio's point.
"There is no need to give them every single detail, Luisa." Emilio said and we laughed. "In any case, you need a job." Emilio says
"No I really don't. Evs about Bora Bora?" Raf says
"I can't." I say hoping he won't ask why.
"Why?" He asks. Damn it
"I have to work." I answer sheepishly shrinking in my seat as Raf rolls his eyes and looks to Emilio giving him a look that says "it's a sign." Luisa tries to stifle a laugh.
"Then I'm going to cut you off." Emilio says calmly.
"That's ridiculous." Raf says
"You're lazy, unmotivated. You've done nothing with your life. You've accomplished nothing. You are such a disappointment."
"Thanks, dad. means a lot." Raf says sarcastically while tipping his glass.
Present day
"Wow babies need a lot of gear." Raf says as we crowd over the laptop
"No they don't. It's all marketing, all right? They act like you need all this stuff, when you just. Oh my god do you see? That little snowsuit with the little ears." Jane cut herself off.
"We live in Miami." Raf says
"Then move because that is adorable." I say making them laugh.
"I'm not going to register for it. I was just saying that it was cute." Jane says
"Hey tell me about the shower. Do I get to come in and make a grand entrance and play cutesy games or whatever." Raf says
"I don't do games. You know what, I don't even know what half of theses things are. And the other half I'm not registering for them until I read a review." Jane says
"You read reviews?" Raf says
"More importantly you are going to want to register for 2 carriers, a rocker, a bath tub,an anti-colic bottle, a grooming kit with scissors, hairbrushes, nail clippers, you also need Pacifiers, baby powder, lotion, oil, diapers, diaper rash cream, clothes." I stop to take a breath. "And a lot more, I'll make a list." I finish making them look at me with wide eyes.
"How do you know so much about babies?" Jane asks
"When my brother and his wife got pregnant they would freak out and I had to go shopping with them as they needed the extra people to pick up all their stuff. I practically memorised their list." I said making them look at me in awe.
"Ok I need you to come shop with me." Jane says.
"Let's look at cribs." Raf says
"Not that one." "Oh I love that one." Raf and Jane say. "Really?" Jane asks
