Chapter 13

Eva's Pov

We are sitting in Raf's office with My brother, Michael and Nadine.

"We are talking with you again because as it looks like your dad is Sin Rostro and has been running a plastic surgery ring for criminals inside your hotel. And it's really hard for me to believe that you knew nothing about it." Michael says directed at Rafael.

"You know I liked it better when you were suspended." Raf says creating a awkward staring contest between them.

"Look if your father needs money or a place to hide, he might contact you. And if that happens we need to know." Nadine says breaking the silence.

"And you will, because I was the one who contacted you when he met with the shady subcontractor. I've given you everything you've asked for: access to his accounts, his emails, and even my crazy sister's letter about a missing corkscrew." Raf says frustrated.

"Rafael, calm down." Rose says. I forgot she was here.

"Detective Cordero you need to understand that Rafael, Eva and I are in shock. We agree that it looks like my husband did this: that he's a criminal, that he's run off, gone underground." Rose says. That's oddly specific, no one really says 'gone underground' anymore.

"But truly we had no idea any of this was happening." Rose says as Scott interrupts.

Mr Solano. You told me to come get you at three." He says. Wow I did not realise the time we've been here all day.

"Yeah, thank you Scott. I have an appointment. I really do need to go. Excuse me." Raf says getting up.

"Stay close by in case we need to talk again," Michael says.

"We will." Rose says

Michael looks at Scott as if he knows something. I cannot be bothered right now I just want to sleep.

After my nap I remembered that Raf and I have a meeting with Lachlan. I walk up to Raf and we go inside the office.

"The prodigal son and his girlfriend returns." Lachlan says making me roll my eyes. I decide not to argue with him still being tired.

"You've been pretty hard to pin down." Lachlan says

"Yeah well, there's a lot going on. You know this really isn't a good time, so, excuse me." Raf says wanting this to be over.

"Yeah, it's gonna have to be now buddy. We have some pretty big decisions to make, decisions that cannot wait given the...circumstances. Danielle here will walk you through it."

We sit down and a few minutes into the meeting Raf spaces out leaving me making all decisions. After the meeting was over I pulled him aside and he told me about the echogenic focus on the baby's heart.   I knew he was worried. I pulled him into a hug. It was hard given our height difference as he was 6ft q and I was 5ft 3. Soon enough Jane came by to tell us she was going through with the amnio.

The day after the amnio we all stood in Jane's bedroom waiting for her to wake up.

"You guys, this is so cheesy." Jane says as we walk in with a cake.

"See, I told you." Xo says

"It's not cheesy it's sweet." Raf says.

"We warned him" I say pointing towards me, Xo and Alba.

"Stop it it's not cheesy. And I think Rafael is right to want to mark this extraordinary occasion of Jane's graduation. And as your keynote speaker I have prepared a few words." Rogelio says.

They start their speeches as my phone buzzes in my pocket. I pick up the phone and it's my brother. He talks and my face falls. I turn around and see all of them looking at me.

"Evs What's wrong are you ok?" Raf asks walking over to me and taking my hand.

I remember Chris telling me not to tell anyone.

"Yeah my date canceled." I lie.

"You had a date." Raf asks looking almost hurt. His back facing the Villanueva family.

"Yeah and before you ask I did not tell you cause you'd immediately want to meet him. Plus I don't think I'm gonna see him again." I say. They believe it and we let Jane rest.

It's a few days later. Raf and I walk down the parking lot of the Marbella as we walk someone turns around and we see him.
