Those were the first words I heard from my brother over the phone. I didn't know what to feel at that moment. I knew Rose pretty well on one hand. But on the other hand she's a criminal who kidnapped a baby. God does Luisa know?
I decided to get over it. I get dressed and go out to a bar. As I'm drinking I get a free drink and the bartender says it's from a guy sitting on the opposite side of the bar. I make eye contact with this guy and invite him over. By the end of the night I sobered up and got his number.
The next morning I woke up with the worst headache ever and made myself a hangover cure. It was disgusting but it worked. I quickly head down to the gym.
On the way I bumped into Jane and she told me she was back with Michael. My first thought was of Rafael. My second thought was stop thinking about Rafael. I remembered the guy from last night Louis. He was charming and made me laugh and when I was with him all I could think of was him and not Rafael.
At I was thinking about Louis I got a call from Rafael about Jane and Michael and at the same time I got a text from Louis. We texted for over an hour and a half and I forgot about Rafael again.
It is the next day and I am looking at ideas with Petra for the Marbella. Louis and I are still texting nonstop.
"Who do you keep texting with that smile?" Petra asks me. I didn't realise I was smiling.
" a guy I met at the bar, we're making plans of meeting for lunch." I say still unaware that I am smiling.
"You really like him you're still smiling." She says
"I don't know why I just can't stop." I say and she smiles at me.
"Well I hope it works out for you. Now what does he look like." She says
"Don't we have to look at ideas for the add?" I ask her.
"That can wait. This is your first crush since Rafael." She says and I talked about him for two hours. Man I really like him.
The next day I was going on my date with Louis. Petra decided my outfit and did my makeup. While Jane and Lina were on FaceTime from the lobby. Apparently it's the only thing Petra and Jane can really bond over.
He picked me up from the Marbella and we head out to this cute Chinese place.
"So what do you do for a living" he asks me after we're done ordering
"I own a part of the Marbella hotel, I also model and I just released a clothing line." I say
"What garments for on the line?" He asked genuinely interested.
"Maternity clothes." I say
"Maternity clothes, not a lot of people do that any particular reason?" He asks
"Well two of my friends have gotten pregnant in the last one and a half year. One of my friends was complaining about their being no stylish maternity clothes so I figured I would make them." I say
"That is a very noble thing to do." He says
"What about you what do you do?" I ask
"I'm the owner of a restaurant chain. It was our family business that we've expanded. My sister runs shop in London while I hold the fort down here." He says and we talk for two more hours about the most random things
"And then my sister slipped down the floor across the hall and right into me. I had to get eleven stitches." He says
"Oh my god was she okay." I ask as I laugh "I'm sorry I shouldn't be laughing that was horrible." I say but can't stop laughing.
"No it is pretty funny now and she was okay she had to get seventeen stitches and she had crutches for six months." He says and we finally got called into work. Neither of us realised the time and we had been sitting in that restaurant for 3 and a half hours.
Third Person Pov
"They're gonna be great." Rafael says walking around the pool to Petra.
"Yes they are." She says still upset about the fact that he chose Jane over her.
"What's wrong?" Rafael asks her
"If me and my daughters are going to be second class citizens, you need to tell me now so that I can be prepared." Petra says
"Second class?" Rafael asks
"To Jane and Mateo." She clarifies
"You won't." Rafael says
"We are now. And look I know you didn't choose this pregnancy. But you did agree to be there. So if that's changed I need to know because I need you. Jane has Michael to help out a little bit. Eva will soon have a full time boyfriend." Petra says and Rafael looks at her
"Boyfriend?" He asks. Eva didn't say anything. She hadn't even texted him back about anything
"Yeah the guy she met at the bar the one she couldn't stop smiling about while texting him. She went on a date with him today. She didn't tell you." Petra said
"No she didn't but regardless I will be here for you. I promise." He said while in the back of his mind he couldn't help but feel replaced.
Eva was replacing him.
Eva's Pov
We get back to the Marbella we are in his car when we plan a second date. He opened my door and walked me to the elevator and kissed me right before it closed. When I got to my room I couldn't stop smiling. I turn around to see Rafael.
"Jesus Christ you scared me. I know we gave each other a key for emergencies but you are not supposed to be the reason I faint." I say to him
"You had a date." He says
"Petra told you." I guessed
"Why didn't you?" He asked.
"I guess I was waiting until we were official." I say
"Official?" He says looking...hurt?
"I really like him. Now is there another reason you were in here?" I ask Rafael
"You didn't text me back." He said
"Maybe I didn't want to hear you pine over Jane." I say under my breath but he heard it.
"What's that supposed to mean." He said looking at me with a hint of anger.
"Every time we talk it's Jane this or Jane that. Have you ever asked me what's happening in my life." I say
"Jane is the mother of my child and-" I cut him off
"And the love of your life. I know but I'm your best friend and you are supposed to be there for me as much as I am for you." I say and we fall into an awkward silence.
"Look, I'm exhausted, come back tomorrow if you want to say something but right now I just want to get this makeup off my face and sleep." I say and he leaves
