Chapter 69

Eva's Pov

I get to the hospital in under ten minutes and Petra gets there a little later. We were about to get discharged. Petra called Jane to tell her about it and then Petra turned around

"You basically told Katherine you were using her before the deal closed. What were you thinking?" She says harshly raising her voice a little.

"I just couldn't go through with it." He says

"Oh, either you said something." She says looking at me. "Or you got Villanuevaed."

"That's not true." He says and Petra gave him a look "or even if it's a little true, I never would've worked with Katherine long-term. Obviously because she's completely nuts." He says and Petra looks unimpressed "oh, you don't think so?" He says

"I mean my sister tried to drown me at sea, I have a high bar." She says. Well thats understandable. The nurse came in and told us to keep an eye on the wound.

Louis and I enrolled Clara in preschool. She came home every day so excited to tell us about her day. Me in person. Louis over FaceTime.

I bandaged Rafael's wound after Petra failed and was just causing him pain. I could feel him looking up at me.

"We'll make another offer." Rafael was saying before someone knocked on the door.

"Unless Katherine tells Luisa what we're doing." Petra says as she goes to open the door.

"The woman already ran me over. I think she got her revenge." He says and Petra opens the door.

"I know Rafael was working with Katherine Cortes." She says " what are you doing here, security! Someone call security!" She says looking at Rafael

"Luisa! Luisa! Rafael was just in an accident look at him." I say

"Please like I would fall for that it's obviously a sympathy ploy." She says and walks over to Rafael and touches the side of his head and Rafael screams out. "So it's not a sympathy ploy."

"Luisa can he stay with me until he gets better? There's a guest room." I say

"No, and if you ever set foot on my property again I will have you arrested." She says

"When did you become such a nasty, hateful person, incapable of—" "me I'm not the hateful—" both of them started yelling at each other.

"You're obsessed with money and power, just like dad." She ends

"Mommy." Clara calls walking into the room

"Everything is okay bub." I say as I pick her up.

"Uncle Raf boo boo." She says

"Yes baby." I say and he smiles at her. Luisa ended up kicking Rafael out of the hotel so he's moved back with my brother.

I was at my brothers place since Lia and Clara wanted to have a sleepover.In the middle of the night a large thud woke me up. I got into the guest room to find Rafael on the floor.

"My laptop fell, I didn't mean to wake you." He said and I helped him sit upright.

"It's okay I'm fine." He says

"Then why aren't you asleep? What is it." I ask

"I don't know, I just feel, lost. I keep replaying everything in my mind that happened, and how I got here.  I mean she ran me over. And then I think about the hotel, you know. And the money— like what if it's all really gone? But then I get mad at myself because then I sound like my father— or my ex father. And then I know I shouldn't even be thinking that because I'm lucky to be alive. And I know that. I'm lucky." He says sniffling and I take his hand.

"It's okay to not feel lucky." I tell him

"You shouldn't even be talking to me." He says

"Hey, how long have we been best friends, and family. Family shows up. Plus you know I love you. Not romantically." I say and he laughs

"You think I should just give it all up? Just forget about the... the trust and the hotel and just start over?" He asks

"It doesn't matter what I think." I tell him

"I think I have to. You can go back to bed now." He says

"I know." I say but just lean my head on his shoulder.

Krishna called me and Petra saying Luisa kept breaking things in her room.

"How long has this been going on." I ask after we hear glass shattering from the room.

"Awhile. And there's something else." She says and we look at her.

"Spare me the dramatic pause." Petra says

"Last week, I heard Magda and Anezka talking. They said that Luisa introduced Anezka to her friend Carl but there was no one there." Krishna says

"Are you absolutely sure they said Carl?" Petra asks and Krishna nods. Petra and I share a look

"I have to go" she says and drags me with her

We call Rafael. We thought he should know. When Luisa had a breakdown during her medical residency she went into a psychosis and said someone named Carla told her she had to barge into surgeries, take over and save lives. There was no Carla. It was a hallucination. She didn't listen to anyone but Rafael.

Rafael had talked to Luisa and we sort of overheard a description of Carl, blue eyes, peppered beard and he uses an inhaler. After that Luisa stormed out and found Anezka.

Luisa stopped by my brother's house and told me and Rafael she was going to check into a psychiatric hospital and she was giving Rafael his Hotel shares back.

Now Rafael was sitting in the Marbella and due to Luisa's mental state she couldn't alter any papers so they will now follow the agreement signed six months ago that in the event of her incapacitation,  all her hotel shares go to Anezka.

Oh my God.
