Chapter 72

Eva's Pov

"What was." I stutter not knowing what to say

"I wasn't planning it, I-I-I just" he stuttered before he was cut off

"Mommy." Clara yells from her bedroom.

"Yeah honey." I say as we both walk inside her room

"I'm scared to go to school tomorrow." She says

"Sweetheart. It's gonna be so much fun. You'll make so many friends now you need some sleep." I say and she nods. I tuck her back into bed and kiss her forehead Rafael had to go to my brother's house.

I had a million questions running through my head.

Did he want to kiss me? Was it a spur of the moment? Does he want to be with me? If he does then what about Clara? What about Mateo and Ellie and Anna? Is it going to be like the last time we kissed?

I got a call from Petra

"Hi, Petra. Wait slow down. I know your sister's dead." I say

"No she wasn't really dead before. She faked her death because she was trying to figure out who loved her." She said

"So she's alive?" I ask

"No. I found out so she attacked me so I defended myself, and she fell off the balcony. So now she actually dead." Petra said

"Oh my god. That's..." I trail off

"Self defence, so I just called to let you know. I need to call Rafael to ask him to watch the girls." She said and hung up.

The next day I went over to Jane's house not knowing Rafael was there. I got flustered. I got Jane out of the house. She said she needed to go to her mom's so I came with her

"Last night Rafael kissed me." I say and Jane and Xiomara screamed out of joy

"Completely out of the blue." I say

"Well not completely. We knew it was going to happen at some point." Xo says

"Yeah but the last time he kissed me he said it was meaningless." I say and they look at me with wide eyes

"Last time." They both screamed together.

"I don't know how to feel I mean I liked him forever and I finally got over him and we were in such a good place and there's kids involved." I say

"Well you have to talk to him eventually." Jane says

The next day I had dropped Clara off at school. And bumped into Rafael who had dropped Mateo off at kindergarten.

That night after I had tucked Clara into bed. Rafael came into the suite.

"Is Clara asleep?" He asked

"Yeah. So should we talk?" I ask

"Yeah but first let me make my pitch. And before you say no... here's a list of all the reasons it won't work out. Practically with my counter arguments. Number one." He says and hands me the list

"We're best friends." I say

"Under that is my counter argument which is just me saying I've always felt something for you and apologising for the last time I kissed you. And talking about how much your friendship means. And how great we would be together. And how our kids need to be our top priority." He says

"That's the thing, Clara is three..." I trail off

"Section two a list about how beneficial this could be for our children. They would see us as external parental figures and rely on us. If we work out." He says

"If" I say

"We could take it slow. Not much would change I'm already living with your brother. We could treat it like a new relationship and we don't tell for a while. Why not try?" He says

"Look I just need to focus on Clara for now." I say hoping he understands

"And I get that but you don't just have an amazing kiss like that." He says

"Honestly it wasn't that amazing for me." I lie

"It was a great kiss I'm a good kisser." He says

"This isn't an indictment of your kissing. I just wasn't feeling it." I say

"Maybe your head wasn't in the game. You were just caught off guard and all you could think about was the other stuff." He says

""You don't get it..." I say but he doesn't listen

"I told your brother it was the greatest kiss of my life." He says

"You talked to Chris about this?" I ask

"Yeah he's my friend I like him." He says

"Then maybe you should kiss him." I say and rush to my room

I called my brother the next day and he told me was team Reva. Whatever that was.

Rafael still believes the reason was that I was caught off guard. We got into a play fight about his kissing ability.

Rafael found out about Carl. I mean I had my suspicions but what Petra did was just wrong. Rafael got an apartment in Mateo's school district. He was moving out of my brothers.

I saw the photo of the apartment and offered to decorate. What can I say I'm a designer.

"Do you really think it was a bad kiss." He asked

"I don't know." I said

"That's what you're saying." He says

"Okay, fine, kiss me again." I tell him

"Are you serious?" He asks

"Yes let's do it." I say

"Okay." He says and just as soon as he leans in I giggle

"Wow, you are not in the right place right now." He says

"I'm fine come on, this is your window it's now or never." I say

"Fine but you have to think about what comes next." He says and leans into whisper in my ear

"Ok kiss me now." I say after a he whispered a few things in my ear. And I kiss him.

After we're done Rafael walks away and I make an offended face and grab his hand and kiss him.

"Mommy." I hear a tired voice and I turn to see my daughter.

"Are you gonna get married?" She asks
