Chapter 18

Eva's Pov

Easter is up and coming. Me, my brother and Lia have had a tradition of going to church and then getting Lia ice cream for being good in church. I let my brother know of the plans as I walk upto Rafael's office.

I walk into his office and see him staring at the computer screen.

"Hey." I ask making his attention shift to me.

Right before either of us could say anything Petra comes in.

"Why have you been ignoring my calls." She asks

"I've just... I've been busy working an angle to try to get this liquor license hearing moved up." He says

"Great. And in the mean time, Aaron tells me he's leaving to go back to India in three days. We have to call the police. Now." Petra says freaking out.

"Petra, stop. Aaron is not Roman." Rafael explains.

"Look, he obviously lured his brother out here somehow, killed him and now he's taking his place." She says

"Are you even hearing yourself?" Raf asks

"I know it sounds crazy." She says.

"As much as I think that the idea of Roman being alive is complete insanity. Petra did know him more than us." I try to reason.

"Look Petra, you asked me to have a drink with him, and I did. Trust me that is not the same guy that I shared a room with in college. It's not him." He says and she walks out.

"Why were you here." He asks me.

"I got bored." I say. He knows that when I get bored I wander around.

"What were you doing on your computer before I came in here." I ask and he sighs

"The private investigator got an email address... of my Mother." He says and my eyes widen.

"What are you going to do?" I ask stuttering.

"I don't know yet." He says as an alarm rings on my phone. I completely forgot that today was my photoshoot.

"I have to go... will you be okay? Do you need me to cancel?" I ask not knowing wether or not he would want to be alone right now.

"No, no, Go, you have been working for this for a while." He says understandably. I kiss his cheek and leave.

After my photoshoot I go back and fall asleep immediately.

The next day it's Easter and Rafael and Jane had to go to brunch with the Falco's. I meet up with my brother and Lia in church. After church we  sit in the ice cream parlour as Lia eats her caramel ice cream with caramel sauce all over her face. Occasionally she looked up at us and offered us a few bites of her ice cream bringing the spoon close to mine and her father's mouth so she could feed us.

Lia and I decided to have a sleepover since she didn't have school the next day. We get back to the Marbella where my brother gets a phone call from his colleague saying Petra's missing.

I tuck Lia into bed and go to Raf's room to tell him about Petra. But he talks before I can say anything.

"I just met my mom." He says.

"How did it go?" I ask

"She took 10 million dollars to give me away and I broke up with Jane." He says looking hurt.

"I'm sorry." I respond bringing him into a hug, not knowing what else to say. He started crying into my shoulder. I sit us down on the sofa where he falls asleep after a while. I put him down on the sofa as I write a note explaining why I had to leave. I enter my room and cover Lia in a blanket as we fall asleep.

Forgetting about Petra and Roman.
