Danielle POV
"Mom,"
"Mom wake up,"
"Mommy,"
I scrunched up my eyes tightly before realising that it was really Amalia's voice I could hear, not simply in a dream.
"Mommy wake up,"
"Hmm I'm awake bubba," I yawned, stretching my arms above my head.
"Good morning sunshine," I smiled tiredly, finally setting eyes on my teen stood beside my bed.
I pulled the duvet up a little more to cover me and glanced over to see Stefania still asleep on her front, her arm draped over my stomach, her tanned naked back exposed.
"Mom you're normally up by now," Mali said, pulling my attention away from Stefania.
I reached over and picked up my phone and in realising the time, woke up properly.
"Oh fuck yeah," I sighed, about to wake Stefania up but catching a glimpse of Amalia's face.
"Bubba your face is all red? Do you feel alright?" I asked, full of concern.
"It feels like it's burning, I've got this weird rash on my arms and chest too," she shrugged.
"Let me look sweetheart," I said softly, moving over towards to middle of the bed so she could perch on the edge.
"Just pull it over your head Mali," I said, seeing her struggle to pull the sleeves up high enough to show me.
Despite looking a little shy, she did as I said. With one hand holding the covers above my chest, I reached out the other to trace my fingers over her red, blotchy skin.
"Have you eaten or drank anything new this morning?" I asked her.
"No but it's itchy," she frowned, scratching at her arms.
"Ahh ahh no bub," I said firmly, pulling her hand away.
"Have you done anything differently at all?" I asked, wondering where it could've come from.
"Nothing apart from a new moisturiser," she shrugged.
"It could be an allergic reaction to that sunshine, go wash wherever you put it and bring mommy what you used,"
"I'll get dressed and get you some antihistamines, they usually work with small allergic reactions," I added.
"Okay," she nodded, about to get up to leave.
"Ahh wait right there missy. Cuddle first," I winked, pulling her arm lightly towards me.
"Mom," she giggled, falling forward onto my chest.
"Oooo are those your pretty nails?" I asked, not having had a real look the previous evening.
"Yeah, look they sparkle," she smiled, showing me proudly.
"They're beautiful, I love the colour,"
I held her for a moment, tickling my fingers over her bare arms.
"That feels nice, it doesn't itch when you do that," she sighed happily against me.
"Good," I smiled, kissing the top of my baby's head.
"Are you going to wake mama up?" She asked, rubbing her irritated eyes with her fist.
I reached and took hold of her hand to stop her, keeping it in mine.
"I will in a moment, it's not often she sleeps in," I pouted, not wanting to wake Stefania.
I kept Amalia in my arms for a few more minutes before we really did need to get up if we were gonna be on time for work.
