Happy weekend once again everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. Here's the next chapter, hope you all enjoy!
Looking around the backyard, Dil saw that everyone else had gone back to doing their own thing. He figured they realized they weren't going to continue their game of tag anytime soon as Tommy, Chuckie, and Kimi all began playing with Tommy's ball while Phil and Lil, as usual, were rolling around in the mud puddle they had made with the hose. Dil didn't know who to help first, let alone if anyone needed his help at the moment. Wandering back over towards Tommy, Chuckie, and Kimi, Dil's first opportunity to help came when Chuckie ran to catch the bouncing ball and, as a result, tripped over his shoelace that had come undone. Falling to the ground, Chuckie's glasses ended up falling off his face as they tumbled in front of him in the grass. Dil, realizing this was his first chance, toddled ahead to pick up Chuckie's glasses for him.
"Uh oh, where are my glasses?" Chuckie asked, feeling around for them just as Dil picked them up
"Here Chuckie, I gots them for you." Dil said, handing the glasses over to Chuckie
Taking his glasses, Chuckie put them back on as he blinked to readjust to the now clear surroundings as he smiled and got to his feet.
"Thanks Dil." Chuckie thanked the younger toddler
"It was nothing. Glad I could helps." Dil grinned as Chuckie picked up the ball to keep playing
Dil thought about joining the trio in a game of catch when he noticed Phil and Lil were having trouble with the hose.
"Come on Phil, how are we apposed to make a really big mud puddle without more water?" Lil whined
"I'm trying! I don't knows why the water wont comes out now. It was working fine a second ago." Phil huffed, flipping the nozzle on and off again with the same result of very little water trickling out.
Dil then eyed the line of the hose that led all the way back to the faucet in the side of the house when he noticed somewhere in the middle that the line of hose had folded, blocking off the water flow to the rest of the hose. Making his way over to the spot in the hose that had folded, Dil then turned to Phil and Lil to give them a warning.
"Hey Phil, Lil! I founds why the hose doesn't have any water coming out, I'm going to fixeses it!" Dil yelled to the twins
"Okay!" Lil waved back giving him the okay
Grabbing the hose line, Dil unfolded the part that was causing trouble and, as expected, the water rushed through the hose and out the end of the nozzle with some force as it returned to working like normal.
"Neat, now we can makes the big puddle!" Phil giggled as he began spraying the ground around the puddle to make even more mud.
Grinning happily knowing he had helped out his friends yet again, Dil walked back over to the twins as Lil thanked him. "Thanks, Dil!"
"Ah it was nothing you guys." Dil said proudly with a smile.
As the twins began splashing and playing around in the mud, Dil looked over by the sandbox where Savannah was scooping sand into the bucket. It was a small chance, but Dil decided to go on over and ask if Savannah needed help with anything.
"Hey Savannah?" Dil spoke to the other toddler
"What?" Savannah answered in a grumpy tone, not even looking at Dil
"Would you like some help with the sandy castle you're making?" Dil asked
"No! I don't needs your help, so leaves me alone." Savannah snapped, clearly still upset with Dil
Dil cringed and took a step back as he let out a sad sigh as he walked away from the sandbox. He just hoped that Savannah would eventually talk to him again once she had calmed down. At the same time, Ebony had arrived to pick up Savannah as she walked out into the backyard with Didi. Dil had noticed that Samayah was also with Ebony in a baby carrier as she gnawed at a teething ring.
"Thank you again for watching her, Didi. She probably had a lot more fun here with her friends than she would being stuck in a waiting room for hours. To think, this was the only day I could get in Mayah's six month physical." Ebony thanked Didi as she ran her hand through Samayah's hair
"Oh you know it's no problem at all, Savannah and Samayah are welcome at any time." Didi replied
Ebony then walked out to the sandbox as she scooped up Savannah into her arms. Seeing her sister, Samayah screeched happily as she ended up dropping her teething ring into the grass.
"Bananah!" Samayah squealed happily
"Come on sweet pea, it's time to go bye bye." Ebony said to Savannah as she made her way back over to the back patio with Didi.
Of course, once she realized she was no longer holding her teething ring, Samayah began to try and look frantically for the lost item. She needed that ring, her gums were bothering her really bad. Spotting the ring in the distance, Samayah immediately began to whine and fuss while trying to reach her teething ring. Realizing there'd be no way to get it, Samayah began sobbing inconsolably.
"Oh dear, someone's fussy. Doc did say she's teething right now, the first tooth should be erupting soon." Ebony sighed, patting her youngest's back.
"Ah yes, teething is always rough on the kids. Thank goodness for pacifiers and teething rings." Didi said
Alerted by Samayah's cries, Dil noticed the infant seemingly trying to reach out for something. Scanning the grass, Dil then saw the teething ring lying in the grass as he quickly moved to pick it up. Rushing over to his mom and Ebony, Dil tugged on Didi's dress to get her attention.
"Oh! What do you have there sweetie?" Didi asked, looking down at Dil who was now holding out the teething ring to her
"That'd be Mayah's teething ring, I hadn't even noticed she dropped it." Ebony chuckled
"Well it's a good thing I have such a good little helper to keep a lookout. Thank you sweetie, and I'm sure Samayah will be thankful too." Didi said, taking the ring and handing it to Ebony.
"Mind if I rinse this off before I head out?" Ebony asked Didi
"Sure, go right ahead." Didi answered
With that the two moms turned to head back inside the house. Savannah just peered over her mom's shoulder staring in Dil's direction. Dil just waved to Savannah as she left the backyard with her mom and sister. He knew it wasn't much, but he was happy to help out yet again.
Will Dil's helpful deeds be enough? Find out next time!
