The second task was too early in the morning in Madeline's opinion. They stood in the bleachers in front of the black lake, where the champions, the judges, and champion friends, expect Potter.

"I don't think he's going to show up, there's only five minutes left." Draco said, looking at his wristwatch. But five seconds later Draco was proven wrong as Potter ran down the field.

"I should have waited five seconds before saying that." Draco muttered, as Madeline chuckled.

"Well, all our champions are ready for the second task, which will start on my whistle. They have precisely one hour to recover what has been taken from them. On the count of three. One...two...three!" Bagman blew the whistle, and all the champions entered the lake, but Potter walked into the lake standing there for a moment.

"What's he doing?" Daphne asked,

"Looking stupid." Draco muttered; they both shot him a look of amusement.

"It's true." Suddenly, Potter looked as if he was gasping for air before plunging into the water.

"Maybe he won't come up again."

"Draco!" She muttered; Draco shrugged.

"It's true."

---

The chills were climbing up Madeline's bones, she curled her hand into a fist, rubbing it up and down her arm, trying to warm her body.

"Why is it so cold?" She asked,

"I don't know," Daphne answered, huddled up into Theo. His arms were wrapped around her, her head resting on his shoulder.

"Come here," Draco said, holding his arms out, she walked into them, burying her face into his chest, Draco rubbed her back, his chin resting on the top of her head.

"I hate couples, you now that." Blaise said, looking at them with disgust. He crossed his arms over his chest, tapping his foot on the bleachers.

"You're the one who doesn't want to date." Daphne said,

"I've tried to set you up, how many times now?" She asked, Blaise shrugged.

"I didn't like them."

"How much longer, I want to go!" Madeline muttered, she turned her head, her ear pressing against his chest, she could hear Draco's heart beating against his chest. Her eyes glanced over the lake, waiting for someone to pop up but nothing yet. Her eyes drifted to the crowds of people, spotting Parkinson, who was throwing death glares at them. Madeline couldn't help but smirk at her.

Finally, there was a stir in the water, and Cedric Diggory came up with a shaking Cho Chang. He brought her to the sore. Soon Krum and Fleur were also had come out of the water. Krum with Hermione, but Fleur alone.

"Where's Potter?" Blaise asked,

"What a loser, coming in last. You know if it was me, I would have come in first. Obviously." Draco said,

"Oh, I'm sure," Madeline said,

"Don't sound so sarcastic, Princess. You know I would win, any day." Draco said, just as Potter got out of the water with Weasley, and a small blond girl. Several minutes passed before Ludo Bagman put his wand against his throat.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have reached our decision. Merchieftainess Murcushas told us exactly what happened at the bottom of the lake, and we have thereforedecided to award marks out of fifty for each of the champions, as follows. Fleur Delacour, though she demonstrated excellent use of the Bubble-HeadCharm, was attacked by grindylows as she approached her goal, and failed toretrieve her hostage. We award her twenty-five points." There was small applause from the crowds.

"Cedric Diggory, who also used the Bubble-Head Charm, was first to return withhis hostage, though he returned one minute outside the time limit of an hour. We therefore award him forty-seven points." There was loud applause from the crowd, mainly from the Hufflepuff's.

"Viktor Krum used an incomplete form of Transfiguration, which wasnevertheless effective, and was second to return with his hostage. We award himforty points." There was more applause.

"Harry Potter used gillyweed to great effect. He returnedlast, and well outside the time limit of an hour. However, the Merchieftainessinforms us that Mr. Potter was first to reach the hostages, and that the delay in hisreturn was due to his determination to return all hostages to safety, not merely hisown. Most of the judges, feelthat this shows moral fiber and merits full marks. However, . . . Mr. Potter's scoreis forty-five points." There was more cheerful applause, before Bagman explained when and where the final task would take place, before everyone was dismissed from the bleachers.

"So, now that were done with the second task. I've got some fun back in the common room." Blaise said, wiggling his eyebrows at his friends.

"What kind of fun?" Madeline asked,

"I've got some firewhiskey,"

"From where?"

"Doesn't matter," Theo looked at him skeptically but said nothing as the group walked into the castle and down to the common room.

---

Madeline had changed into a pair of red pattern pajama pants with a big black sweater. It was still quite cold even if it was February. Her and Daphne walked upstairs into the boy's dorm room.

"Now, where is this firewhiskey?" Daphne asked, rubbing her hands together excitedly. Madeline sat down next to Draco on his bed, her eyes following Blaise as he kneeled down and grabbed the bottle from under his bed.

"This, ladies and idiots."

"Hey!" Theo and Draco said, as Blaise smirked, taking his wand out and opening the bottle with it.

"Is supposed to be the best firewhiskey you've ever tried,"

"It's going to be the first firewhiskey we've ever tried," Daphne corrected, Blaise shrugged, as he took a drink.

"Oh, that's strong," he said, as he handed Theo the bottle, they all took turns taking a sip from the bottle, until it landed in Madeline's hand.

"You don't have to try if you don't want too." Draco said, she shook her head.

"No, I want too." She said, before taking a sip, she felt the cinnamon flavor whiskey go down her throat, and she was surprised to find that it didn't have as much heat as she thought. She could feel the buzz of alcohol starting to take over.

"Now, we relax." Blaise smirked.
