Finally, finally, it was close to midnight, only five more minutes and Madeline would see him, see Draco. She had sat in bed, after taking a long bath, and scrubbing every inch of her body, Meredith, she waited until Meredith left, got out of bed and started getting ready, she put on some very light makeup, did her hair in several different styles before landing on a blow dried look, and looked through every inch of her closet until she landed on the right dress.

Madeline looked at the clock, only ten minutes left until midnight. She slipped on her sandals, trying to figure out how to get past her guard. Her father made a guard stand in front of her door ever since the death eater attack. Madeline wasn't sure how to sneak past the guard. She quickly put her wand in the pocket of her dress before she opened the door, less then an inch, a flash of blond-white hair stood in front of her door.

"Michael?" She whispered, opening the door wider.

"Yes?" He turned around, grinning at Madeline.

"Aren't you supposed to be in the hospital wing?"

"I got out early, I thought you needed someone a little more...discreet while you snuck out of your room." He said,

"Thank you, Michael. I owe you one." She whispered, shutting the door behind her.

"You don't," She waved goodbye to Michael before she started walking to the gardens. She hid in every corner when she thought anyone walked pass. By the time she got to the gardens it was 12:10. She started walking faster, the warm night air grazing her thighs, arms, and collar. She wore the shortest dress in her closet, it was a white single strap white dress that stopped a little higher than mid-thigh, with light green tiny flowers running across the dress. Of course, her Mum doesn't know she has this dress, if she did, she would kill her, but it was a present from Daphne, and she wasn't going to let it rot in her closet.

Then she finally saw him, standing in the middle of the gazebo, his bright white, blond hair shinning in the moonlight. Her breath hitched when she saw him, she grinned, and started running towards him, and then finally, finally she was in his arms, the smell of mint and cologne surround her again, and he was holding her so tight she couldn't breathe.

"I missed you Princess," Draco whispered, his fingers pushing away strands of her hair that fell across her forehead. She blinked away the tears, his hand resting on her cheek.

"I missed you too." She said, before his lips were on hers, his hand on the back of her neck, his fingers laced through her hair, pulling her closer, in a desperate, I didn't know when I was going to see you, kiss. Her hands fisted his shirt, pulling him closer. They pulled apart, there breaths mingling, as they stared at each other, she still couldn't believe he was here. Madeline grabbed his arm, and sat down on the ground, facing each other.

"How did you get in here? Ever since the attack father tripled the security." She finally asked

"Michael and Elizabeth helped me in. Mum and Dad don't know I left...we don't really notice anything anymore unless it has to do with you-know-who." He said, he grabbed Madeline's hand, tracing the lines of her palm as he spoke.

"This is why I love them." She laughed, he nodded before they fell into a nervous silence again. Madeline had so many questions, she didn't know where to start.

"What happened that night-"

"How have you been?" They fell into a quiet silence again.

"What happened that night?" She repeated, Draco signed, finally looking up at Madeline. He was pale with dark purple smudges were under his eyes.

"I couldn't do it."

"Kill Dumbledore?" He nodded.

"You-know-who started staying at my house before sixth year. As a punishment for what happened at the ministry you-know-who decided that I should be given the task of killing Dumbledore and bringing the other death eaters in Hogwarts. He decided that I needed to become a death eater, or he'd kill me.  I spent the whole year trying to figure out how to do it, I sent him different packages, gifts, trying to kill him but it never worked. He said it was weak attempts, because I wasn't actually a killer. Finally, I resorted to the last option, the killing curse. That night, I got the death eaters into the castle using the vanishing cabinet, it was connected to one in 'Borgin and Burkes.' The death eaters entered from 'Borgin and Burkes' and got out in the room of requirements. I ran upstairs to the astronomy tower, cornered Dumbledore but I couldn't do it. Snape...he killed him." Madeline's face paled by the time he finished; her eyes swam with tears.

"Don't waste your tears on me Princess. I've already accepted my fate." Draco said, wiping the tear from Madeline's eye.

"But still, you were only 16. Why would he...why would you-know-who do that?"

"Because he wants to punish my family," She grabbed his wrist, the one holding her face, and pulled his sleeve down. Draco's breath hitched, as Madeline stared at his dark mark.

"Don't touch it...we might accidentally summon him." Draco said, pulling his sleeve back up.

"You could have told me...I could have figured out something for you," She said, he kissed her forehead.

"I was ashamed, I didn't want you to look at me differently."

"I never would!" Madline said, Draco kissed her forehead, shaking his head.

"It doesn't matter now, the war is going to end soon, and then we can be together." Madeline looked away, the guilt of hiding her engagement was rising again, pounding against her rib cage, wanting out, she pushed it back down, and nodded.

"Yes." She whispered, he leaned over, his lips grazed hers, so light she wasn't sure if it actually happened, before he deepened the kiss. There night was just starting.
