Draco was gone, Madeline hadn't seen him since that morning. She blinked her tears away as Meredith fixed her makeup. She wore a long single strap black dress, with tiny white bows on the straps, and three layers of white ruffles on the bottom of the dress. Her mother didn't say anything about the dress she picked up, Madeline knew her mother felt sorry for her, so she allowed a black dress that had enough white on it to please her. And her hair was done in neat blow-dried waves, making sure not a single hair out of place.

"Why are you crying, Your Highness? You look beautiful," Meredith said, Meredith was going to be helping her until Elizabeth's maternity leave was over

"Why are you crying, Your Highness? You look beautiful," Meredith said, Meredith was going to be helping her until Elizabeth's maternity leave was over. Madeline took the tissue Meredith handed her, whipping her tears.

"Just tired." She whispered, Meredith let her keep the tissue in her hands, as she fixed her makeup. Her bedroom door opened, and Daphne walked in wearing a beautiful blush pink dress, her hair done in neat curls, and her makeup done perfectly.

"You look beautiful." Daphne whispered, staring at her through the mirror. Madeline nodded giving her a tight-lipped smile as Daphne sat on the bed. Meredith finished her makeup, and helped Madeline pin her tiara in place, before she excused herself.

"Have you heard from him?" Madeline asked, sitting down next to Daphne on the bed.

"Not really, he says he wants to be left alone." Madeline nodded.

"Do...do you think you'll ever bring yourself to love Alexander like you loved Draco?" She asked, Madeline shrugged.

"I don't know, I don't want to say yes or no because I don't know what the future has in store for me."

"That makes sense."

"You're so lucky Daphne. I know you've always thought that I'm lucky because I'm a princess, and I live in this huge palace, and I get these beautiful gowns, and tiaras, and become queen one day, that I have it all, but you have it all. You can marry Theo if you want, or you don't have to at all. You can be whatever you want, you are free, and I'm not."

"What if you just give up your crown? It's bringing you so much trouble."

"I can't, I'm going to be queen one day, but mark my words Daphne, I won't let them control me again after this, after tonight.  Mark my words Daphne." She whispered, standing up, she fixed her dress, and plastered a smile on her face.

"Now let's go get engaged."

---

The ballroom was already almost full by the time Madeline and Daphne had entered. Her father met her at the bottom of the stairs, offering her his arm. She took it, the camera's started flashing, almost blinding her, but she's gotten used to them.

"Prince Alexander is going to propose in another hour, you two will talk, dance, and eat before he pops the question. Understood?" He whispered,

"Yes," They walked around greeting everyone before they walked to Prince Alexander and his family. She bowed to them before Prince Alexander took her hand and kissed her hand.

"Hello Princess Madeline," Prince Alexander said,

"Hello Prince Alexander."

"Why don't you two go for a dance?" His mother asked, they nodded he led her to the dance floor. He put his hands on her lower back, Madeline put hers on his shoulder before intertwining there fingers.

"I know you didn't want this." Alexander whispered to her,

"Was I that obvious?"

"Maybe a little," He whispered, making her chuckle.

"I want you to know that I will be a good husband to you, even though we were forced into this."

"I believe you Alexander." Madeline said,

"I do also want you to know that you look beautiful."

"Thank you," She said, before the song ended. They bowed to each other before going to the snack table. Madeline ate as she talked to Alexander, they could feel the camera's watching there every move.

They walked over to there families and Madeline knew what that meant, it was time for him to propose. Alexander cleared his throat taking out the velvet box from his pocket.

"Can I have everyone's attention?" He said, the room immediately quieted of course, they would because he was a future king and he deserved silence in there opinion.

"Princess Madeline Ayer, we've known each other for years now, and I don't think I can find anyone I'd rather spend the rest of my life with." He got down on one knee, opening the velvet box. Madeline forced a gasp, covering her mouth playing the part of surprised girlfriend.

"Will you marry me?" He asked, she didn't think she would cry during this, but once she saw the ring, and who was holding it, she felt a hand around her heart, squeezing it so hard it hurt her to blink.

"Yes," She breathed, the whole room started cheering as he stood up, and placed the ring on her finger, the camera's flashing even brighter than ever. She had finally sealed her fate by saying yes to the prince.
