//Author's POV//

That night, Kisame laid awake in his hospital bed staring at the ceiling and gently brushing Katsumi's hair with his fingers. Deidara and Obito were long gone by now which only made Kisame feel slightly lonely. Itachi still hadn't come back after leaving earlier that day which didn't surprise Kisame, but it did make him worry since Itachi would have at least sent someone to give him a message of some sort. Just the thought of Itachi not communicating made Kisame sigh before he looked back down at Katsumi who was in a deep sleep, tucked into the covers.

Kisame couldn't recall a time when he'd actually spent so much time with Katsumi, and he actually didn't remember of a time when Katsumi was so willing to cuddle up with him. He just knew that the time he spent out cold was probably the same time Katsumi was visiting and keeping him company. A warm feeling ended up passing through his chest which made him slightly chuckle. Never did he imagine that he would actually have a child with someone as closed off and stoic as Itachi. He didn't mind it mainly because his views on family and the whole values surrounding it allowed Kisame to finally understand why people did everything they could to protect their children.

With that in mind, he instantly thought about his family back in the land of Mist that got had gotten murdered. He hadn't thought about them in a long time, but he still could vividly feel those feelings of having a big family like them, and now he wanted to also remember this feeling as well.

*Knock Knock*

Kisame looked up and at the door before frowning. It was way too late in the night for someone to come and visit, and Itachi would have simply come in. So he carefully got out of the bed and walked over to open it only to see Tsunade standing there with an Anbu. His frown only got worse as he noticed the grim looks on their faces.

"Is something wrong," Kisame questioned. Tsunade stayed quiet for a bit before sighing.

"Yes, Itachi is missing." Just those words were enough to make Kisame freeze in place as he stared at Tsunade in disbelief.

"How?! He was just here earlier this morning," Kisame said.

"I know, but he was called out for an urgent mission near the western border of Konoha. We lost contact with him and his teammate Daku after they confronted a group of bandits." Kisame remembered that feeling that something was wrong earlier and cursed himself for not taking into consideration his feelings of worry. So in a split-second decision, he looked over at Katsumi and back at Tsunade.

"Keep Katsumi safe for me. I'm going to go look for him" Kisame said. Tsunade's eyes widened as she tried to stop Kisame who by now was changing out of his hospital gown and into some clothing Itachi had left for him a couple of days ago. He was in the process of tying his brand new issued headband as Tsunade spoke.

"But you aren't even completely healed yet. I already ordered Itachi's father to send out some of the Uchiha police force and some of the past Akatsuki members," she said as she tried to reassure Kisame. This didn't seem to help as he simply passed her before telling her to take care of sleeping Katsumi. She was utterly bewildered and sighed. Kisame was a difficult guy to control.

Kisame struggled a bit to run and jump through the village as he made his way to the last place Itachi was seen. The western side of the border wasn't even far, but Kisame knew he was feeling tired because of his lack of physical activity the past few months.

Soon though, he made it to his destination before he jumped down to the outside of the wall only to see Itachi's father standing there. In his hand, he had none other than Samehada who looked thrilled to see its owner.

"I knew you wouldn't just sit back," Fugaku said as he tossed Samehada to Kisame who caught it with one hand. Kisame thanked him and they began to start thinking about various places where Itachi would be until loud shouts were heard. They looked over to their right and saw that four Uchiha Police members came towards them. Two of the four held none other than Daku in their grasp. The guy was visibly agitated and struggled against the people holding him. Kisame instantly recognized his voice as the guy who came for Itachi earlier that day before he vanished.
