//Authors POV- War Arc//
Itachi's eyes widened as they reflected the light coming from the beam. Sasuke and the others arrived and were met with a blast from the impact of the power created. Standing in shock was all they could do, and soon, a cloud of smoke invaded everyone's line of sight. Naruto, standing right next to Sasuke, had to grab onto him just to ensure that he didn't get lost, and it seemed to all of them that the cloud of smoke wasn't going to clear up.
"Itachi?!" Sasuke yelled out. There seemed to be no response and he couldn't even bare to keep his eyes open at all with all the dust getting into them. Izuna seemed to have no issue walking through the dust since he was dead. A bit of dust wouldn't do much to him anyway aside from impairing the view ahead. All this was going on while Itachi laid on the ground groaning in pain, though, it confused him as to why he only felt pain radiating from his head. He slowly sat up and tried looking around for Kisame until he noticed a body on the ground facing down. Immediately Itachi stumbled over to the body and collapsed to his knees when he finally got close enough in the dust cloud to notice who it was. He knew that Kisame had most likely shoved him out of the way of the blast which pained him.
"K-Kisame," he said which only seem to come out as a whisper. His eyes slowly began to tear up before he turned Kisame over and gasped. Kisame's chest was burned and it looked like his flesh was raw. Itachi tried all he could to heal Kisame with the limited medical ninjutsu he knew, but his chakra kept fizzing out. By now, tears spilled over and he pleaded with Kisame to wake. Not a single groan or complaint of pain left the elder's lips. He laid his head against his lover and pleaded.
"P-Please Kisame, Please don't do this to me!!"
Silence followed after that aside from the sobs escaping Itachi's lips. He roughly wiped them away before leaning down and cupping Kisame's cheek as he played a chaste kiss on his lips.
"Forgive me," was all Itachi said as he gently placed Kisame's head down and grabbed the Kunai that had peaked through his pocket. He felt as if he was moving on his own. Like the world meant nothing to him, and that Shisui just made it to where Katsumi had lost one of his parents. It deeply hurt Itachi more knowing that before they left for the battlefield, Kisame had talked to Katsumi in private and promised to come back. His whole world was shattered, and Itachi knew things wouldn't be the same all alone. His heart hurt deeply, but he pushed through it and made up his mind.
"You know I didn't want to do this," Shisui said as he stood before Itachi. Only inches away from him. Itachi didn't flinch as his former friend and partner reached forward and cupped his tear-stricken cheek. Shisui gently wiped those tears away before grabbing the hand Itachi was holding the Kunai with and putting it up against Itachi's abdomen. "Though, you have proved to me that I won't be first in your heart my dear," Shisui said. Itachi could feel Shisui slowly pressing the kunai into his stomach with more force until Itachi only sadly smiled as more tears dripped out of his eyes.
"You're right, and nothing will replace that love I had for you before you became the monster you are now, but I can't accept the suffering you put me through now. Especially after what you did to Kisame and everyone else I love" Itachi said as the smile on his face dropped as he turned the kunai before using all the energy he had left and stabbing Shisui right through the stomach. Shisui's eyes widened before he looked down at the blood coming out from the wound landing on Itachi's hands. He slumped up against Itachi as the other clenched his teeth seething in anger and despair. All of those feelings ravaged Itachi's mind before he pulled the Kunai out of Shisui and watched as his body fell to the ground with a thud. That was followed by the dust around them dissipating, clearing everyone's line of sight. Though, this didn't make anyone want to move as they watched Itachi on his knees over Shisui's body stabbing the now lifeless corpse over and over. Blood covered the young Uchiha's face, hands, and clothing. Nothing seemed like it mattered to him so he kept at it until Sasuke came up from behind and held up Itachi's arms by his wrist.
