Months after their special day, the routine of their new lives has started to settle down. Itachi had managed to open a few secret branches in the Anbu force along with many different recruits. Each had its own potential and prowess that allowed for the protection of Kirigakure to be heightened. Kisame also had finally reached the same rank as Itachi and helped manage the corps, though he preferred more of an active role like training new recruits or doing these hardcore missions every once in a while.

Though Itachi was worried about his health or safety, Kisame always made sure to comfort him and shower him with love each time. It seemed like everything was finally the way it should have been, and yet, Itachi felt like there was still something missing. A missing piece to his small puzzle which he had been putting together with Kisame. Itachi didn't know what it was until he had fallen ill for quite a while. Things like a stomach bug or virus could be the cause for his bizarre changes. But nothing would prepare him after his unexpected visit to the hospital to have a check-up with Tsunade. To say that the woman was shocked to see him was an understatement. She thought he had gotten his sickness from the past back all over again and went over some extensive questions like his diet, mood, daily routine, and symptoms until the final part of his examination came up. Tsunade had snapped on some latex gloves and instructed him to lift his shirt a bit. He complied, making sure to lie down comfortably before doing just what she asked.

Tsunade then proceeded to hover her hands above his abdomen; allowing some amounts of chakra to seep in and give her some insight to his condition. Her brows would only furrow in confusion and concern.

"Hmm that doesn't seem right," she said before pulling away. That wasn't a good thing was what Itachi thought as he sat up and watched her bring back a clear small cup along with a test kit. Test kit to what exactly? Itachi didn't know.

"Here, go use the bathroom and pee in this cup. Use the test and bring it back to me when you're done," she stated.

"Erm what is this test exactly?"

"A pregnancy test. To make sure it isn't something else entirely." Itachi was a bit taken aback but did as he was told. Ensuring he allowed an ample amount of urine to get into the test. He then waited for a bit before looking down at it and pausing all thoughts in his mind.

Positive. . .

It really wasn't what Itachi was expecting at all. It's not like they'd even been trying in the past few months. Though, the lines on the test did seem very prominent which meant one thing. He was much further along than he might have looked on the outside. Slowly he stepped out of the restroom and approached Lady Tsunade with his results. She had just finished writing down a bit of information on a clipboard; making sure that Itachi's symptoms were written for some consideration to any other condition affecting him. She then looked up and placed the clipboard aside.

"So?"

Itachi stood in front of her quietly and continued holding the test firmly. Her face had a concerned expression on it, but then it slowly softened and morphed into one that could only be described as excitement.

"Are you- wait don't tell me!"

Itachi laughed at her reaction while wiping some tears of joy away. She quickly ran out of the exam room before rushing back in with some special equipment to check Itachi out for herself a bit further. Itachi waited patiently on the examination bed until she instructed him to lift his shirt back up. He did so and watched as she squirted a precise amount of clear jelly onto the transducer. It was cold on contact, but not too unbearable as Tsunade pressed on.

"Since you've just used the bathroom, I'm going to have to press a little harder to see more clearer. Just try to be still," she said. Itachi nodded and only winced as the pressure on his lower abdomen increased. The feeling was indeed uncomfortable for him, and it worried Itachi that she was taking quite a while to see anything at all. An empty pit was forming in his stomach, though it could have been the fact that he'd not eaten much that day.
