Bold~Dialogue

//Authors POV//

It was midnight when Itachi finally sat up from his spot next to Kisame. Slowly rubbing his eyes, he looked around and noticed the dim light of the moon outside gleaming and glowing ever so brightly through the window. It was a hypnotizing scene to the young Uchiha, and having this moment alone filled his heart with the feeling of sudden joy. It had been a long time since he felt this. Almost as if it was a sign that something good was to come. Just that thought made a smile form on his lips before he turned around and looked back a Kisame.

Golden eyes. . .

Itachi sat frozen and in shock as those eyes stared at the ceiling. No words could be formed except a slight groan coming from none other than Kisame. After all, it had been five long months. It wouldn't be surprising to Itachi that Kisame could barely move or speak, but it still brought tears to his eyes knowing that Kisame could open his eyes. "I have to get Tsu-" Itachi uttered, but he couldn't continue because Kisame's hand kept twitching in his own. Itachi slowly sat back down and held his hand tighter. He knew that his lover didn't want him to go, and Itachi wasn't going to hold that against him. Especially not after all they've been through in the past couple of months. Just the idea lingering in his mind brought a certain feeling of dread. Never did Itachi ever imagine that he would actually make it through it all alive and well, but he did feel the feeling of warmth invade him at the thought of all Kisame's comforting words that also helped him get through it.

His eyes slowly met Kisame's again and he just watched as Kisame tried his best to move his mouth to speak, but since it had been quite some time, his speech came out in mumbles and sore whispers. Itachi sighed and gently used his free hand and brought it up to his lips before signaling Kisame to quiet down.

"It's ok. You've been out for 5 months now so your movement and voice will be slightly affected" Itachi said gently.

That seemed to indeed quiet Kisame as he stopped tensing and forcing more words to pass through his lips. Though, almost if on cue, Kisame let out a sigh in his oxygen mask. Itachi shook his head and leaned forward to kiss him carefully on the cheek. "I really don't really think you understand how much I missed you this whole time. Especially Katsumi who is always excited to come and see you every day. I-" Itachi paused as he felt tears slowly forming and sliding down his cheeks.  Soon, the rest of what he was going to say was completely erased from his mind as he started sobbing. Those emotions from the previous days and months came crashing over him and just crying seemed like something that comforted him for no apparent reason. His lips quivered when he really tried to suppress the noise, but it was all too overwhelming.

It did help that Kisame just gently squeezed Itachi's hand to try and comfort him. Even if it was a light squeeze. Itachi felt himself calm down and relax a bit at the affectionate touch. He knew that acting like this in front of Kisame would only stress out his lover, so he wiped his tears and looked back at Kisame.

"S-Sorry, I just needed to get that out," Itachi uttered. Kisame did seem to understand as he looked around himself and at the state of the room. The place seemed like it had been used as a sleeping area for quite some time, which was evident with all the blankets, pillows, and children's books positioned neatly on one of the tables. Though Kisame could not speak very well, nor move much, he tried to form a couple of words that would rasp out his throat.

"I- Io-ve you"

Itachi's eyes widened and he teared up more hearing those words for the first time in months as he leaned close to Kisame and laid his head against his side. His warmth was radiating against Itachi's cheek which only comforted him even more. Though it all may sound very cringeworthy, Itachi never let pessimistic thoughts invade his mind. All Itachi wanted to really do was lay there with Kisame, but it was extremely late and he had a big load of mission reports to get done later on.
