(Itachi's POV)

I opened my eyes to darkness. The bed felt cold for once and it hurt me more than it should have.

I soon felt the warm tears flowing down my cheeks at the thought of what happened earlier today. I regretted ever opening my mouth. All Kisame did was try and help me, but I was stupid enough to ruin it all.

I choked back my cries and whimpers at the thought of hurting Kisame. I didn't want him to leave me all alone. I wanted him here by me.

Itachi: T-this is just a d-dream. . .

(Authors POV)

Itachi sat up and pinched his arm very hard to the point that blood began slowly seeping out of the marks. His lips quivered at the sensation of pain coursing through his arm. This wasn't a dream and Itachi's sobbing got louder. He brought his knees up to his chest and shook in fear. The Uchiha was tired of being alone and left in the dark.

Itachi still felt the alcohol in his system and regretted ever drinking. With the time he wasted he could have gone after Kisame. He could have chased after him and stopped him. All of these regrets mixed in with his feelings.

He hated himself.

Soon the clock across the room read 11:30 pm. Itachi's sobbing stopped as he sat against the headboard of the bed. His knees were still against his chest as he looked out the glass balcony door. dark clouds filled the sky that once held shimmering stars. His eyes were still red and tear-filled but no sound came out of his mouth. He got up slowly and approached the balcony sliding glass doors. Walking out in the cold air Itachi shivered. He stood there just looking out at the view. It was dark, but he could make out the silhouette of the mountains in the distance.

Itachi didn't move an inch after coming out. The cool and crisp air blew his hair around. His cheeks and lips were a rosy color that contrasted with his pale complexion. No tears dared to come out at all. Itachi couldn't cry anymore. The sky cried for him instead. Droplets of rain fell from the sky and landed on him. His t-shirt soaked up the rain as it fell on him, but Itachi didn't seem to notice anything happening around him. His mind was too clouded with dispair to even realize. His once dry shirt now was soaking wet and sticking to his small and thin figure. His hair laid damp on his head with his side bangs sticking to the side of his pale face.

???: I wouldn't stay out in this weather if I were you.

Itachi's mind came back and he looked down only to see an Anbu with gear waving at him. Itachi stood dumbfounded as the mysterious man jumped on his balcony.

Backing away a bit he had a stern look on his face and questioned the man's intentions.

Anbu: Oh sorry if I frightened you. I'm just here on a mission.

Itachi: Mission. . .?

The man removed his mask and smiled shyly at Itachi.

Anbu: Tsunade sent me to watch over you. You see a lot has been going on and well I have been assigned. I hope you don't mind.

Itachi sighed and tried his best to smile at him. Itachi finally noticed that he was drenched and feeling cold. The Anbu was also soaking wet which worried Itachi a bit even if he didn't know him. He didn't want the man to get sick.

Itachi: Would you like to come inside. I don't think this weather is good for guarding.

Anbu: I don't think I should-

Itachi: It's fine.

Itachi walked in and the Anbu sighed before walking behind him.
Itachi directed him to the living room as he changed his clothing.
