(Present Time: 3 Weeks Later- Author POV)
Katsumi had gotten accustomed to Itachi and Kisame's way of living by now. He was more outgoing and even made a few friends with the help of Deidara who took him to the park on the weekends when he and Obito had the time.
Itachi was extremely happy at the fact that he was settling in nicely.
The family of three was currently eating dinner when Itachi turned to Kisame and spoke.
Itachi: I have something to say.
Kisame turned looking confused and put his chopsticks down.
Kisame: Go on?
Itachi: I got accepted as a teacher at the academy. Tsunade sent a scroll earlier with my credentials. So, I start in 2 days.
Kisame almost choked on the remaining food in his mouth which caused Itachi to get up from his seat and help him out.
Itachi: Are you ok?!
Kisame: Y-Yeah. I just can't imagine you as a teacher. You've always been my partner on the field. Without you there, I don't think I'll have anyone to watch my back.
Itachi smiled and sat back down after handing Kisame a glass of water.
Itachi: I'm sure everything will be fine. This is something I want to do. Besides, I won't be the only one going to the Academy. Katsumi will be joining me.
Itachi turned to Katsumi who froze in his seat. He looked up at Itachi and a look of anger and fear was evident on his face.
Katsumi: No, I'm not going.
Itachi and Kisame were obviously taken at back by the sudden behavior switch and looked at the small child in concern. In the past week, Katsumi had been nothing but loving and kind. Never going as far as raising his voice or showing any outburst of anger... So why was this something that caused such a reaction?
Kisame: Why not?
Katsumi's eyes downcast at his plate of food as he moved a vegetable around with his chopsticks.
Katsumi: Because it's dumb. I don't want to go to that stupid place.
And with that, Katsumi quickly stood up and left his place at the table before running upstairs. The sound of his room door slamming echoed throughout the home. Kisame was about to get up, but Itachi's hand on his own stopped him.
Itachi: Leave him be.
Kisame: But-
Itachi: I'll talk to him. He probably just needs some time to adjust to such a change. Remember, he's just a child, and changes like this aren't as easy for him.
Kisame sighed and sat back down. Knowing they had never seen Katsumi mad or even show a sign of aggression to them before, Itachi wanted to get to the bottom of it. So when dinner was done, he headed upstairs as Kisame sat alone in the living room finishing up some mission reports. During the time they were home, Kisame had managed to get some things done while in Konoha, but now that Itachi would be working, he would be able to go out and do missions afar.
