(Authors POV)Kisame groaned at the soothing feeling to his scalp. Slowly he opened his eyes and saw Itachi's hand running through his hair while holding a book in the other. His mask was nowhere to be seen on his face.
Itachi: Good morning.
Kisame smiled as Itachi set his book down on his lap and yawned a bit.
Kisame: I think you should rest more.
Itachi: Resting is monotonous, and I've run out of material to read.
Kisame chuckled a bit as Itachi pouted and eyed the stack of children's books on the nightstand. All of the books have been read and Itachi was indeed growing tired of the hospital and its gloomy atmosphere.
The small pout on his face turned into a small frown as he remembered what the doctor had told him while Kisame was asleep.Kisame: What's w rong?
Itachi contemplated for a bit before looking Kisame dead in the eye.
Itachi: The doctor told me that the damage to my organs has caused some long-term problems.
Kisame watched as Itachi looked out the window and stared into the morning sunrise. He had never see Itachi so sullen by something as important as this.
Kisame: What kind of problems, Itachi-san?
Itachi stayed silent as a small gust of wind blew some of his hair away from his face.
Itachi: Children. . . . I might not be able to have c-children. . .
Kisame watched a small smile form on Itachi's lips
as they quivered a bit.Itachi: B-But it's f-fine.
Kisame: Itachi. . .
Kisame leaned forward and planted a gentle yet firm kiss on Itachi's forehead. The man knew that Itachi loved children, and the thought of the younger one suffering because of a fatal mistake on his part hurt deep inside.
Kisame: Miracles happen, Itachi. Don't give up so soon.
Itachi smiled and held onto Kisame's hand for comfort. Itachi wasn't used to getting this much attention, especially not from Kisame who would joke around or find ways to annoy him.
Itachi: At least we're Godparents.
Kisame's face had a look of realization as he suddenly remembered about Deidara and Obito.
Kisame: I- I totally forgot about that!
Itachi giggled a bit before lightly smacking Kisame on the shoulder.
Itachi: I heard about it while I was asleep. How could you forget?!
Kisame playfully rubbed his arm and fake cried in pain.
Itachi: Don't complain, I didn't even hit you that hard.
Kisame's antics were ruined when a light knock on the room door caught their attention before opening slowly. The doctor walked in while holding the small hand of a child. Kisame instantly recognized the little guy and watched as the kid fumbled with a small card in his hand. the kid also wore a hospital gown.
