Chapter Thirty-eight

Alauria Monterey

2 weeks later.

It was the same aromatic air I used to smell when I was a kid, spiced up with the dramatic speech of none other than Shane Llansante, our class valedictorian.

"Dear teachers, family..."

Speech. Speech. Speech.

I understood nothing because I heard Shane's making every fan of him blab about at how dashing he is, including his brother sitting properly in the back.

Tinakpan ko ang tenga ko.

Oh please, this is boredom. Why not allow students with bored  syndrome go and have a good sleep? This. Is. TORTURE. Dagdag pa na si Llansante ang dumuduyan sa aking antok na kanina ko pa nararamdaman.

Napako ang mga mata ko sa librong kanina ko pa hawak. At upang mawala ang antok, binuklat ko ang unang pahina.

Horizon Of Atlantis

Antoinette Bonny is a nineteen-year-old girl who has never experienced living a normal life. It seems the world is a cruel place for her to live; she wishes her death to come, but death spares her. Living on a gloomy street, no one has set foot except her best friend, July the cat. In a century-old house, her Aurora gave it as a gift to her, who was no longer able to live another year on her birthday, peacefully gone forever.

The school bus outside beeped at her. "Time for school," she said to herself, readied to pick up her backpack and books, and caressed July's head. She took one last glimpse of her heart in the jar before she headed off.

The inside of the school bus is always senseless. She grips the pole firmly to support her, and as soon as the driver starts the engine, it is also senseless. She tries to understand what these things feel like to touch, smell, and taste, but always ends up with endless senselessness.

She put the thought away and walked straight to the back seat, and there's John sitting with his favourite junk on his lap. Without giving a glance at her—well, actually, the scene outside the window is giving her a vibe—and that's what she did the whole ride, watching the city's view.

"Freak," Elle, the class b-tch, said when she accidentally bumped into her, but a stare was all Antoinette could ever give while the latter was disgusted and stormed out of the bus. Antoinette thought that she scared Elle when she wasn't.
