"Minho." someone mumbles while shaking me by the shoulders. "Wake up."
I'm starting to rise, but I don't want to. My dream is nice. I'd like to be locked in it forever.
"Minhoooo!"
It's Jisung, I think. What does he want? Can't he see I'm finally at peace?
"Come on, wakey wakey.."
Wakey wakey my ass.
"Lee Minho, it's urgent!"
I turn on the other side so he can take the hint and leave me alone, just to realize there's some kind of weird smell floating in the air.
Oh Jesus, it's smoke.
"Min-" he tries again but before he can even finish my eyes open wide and my body gets up on its own.
"What is this horrendous smell, Jisung?!" I ask, panic present in my voice. I stand up and nausea kicks in almost immediately, causing me to fall back down with a low grunt. "Fuck."
"A-Are you okay?"
"Don't start with that bullshit," I murmur, getting up slowly this time and walking towards the door. "Did you set the house on fire?"
"What? No, no, of course not.."
Jisung is guiltily looking at the floor. His head is lowered and so is his tone.
Like a golden retriever's.
"Oh my god, Han Jisung." I rush downstairs to see if the first floor is still.. there. And to my surprise, it thankfully is.
The culprit rushes behind me. He still has that remorseful face on, although there's no reason for him to feel like that.
Or is it?
"Listen, don't be mad but–"
"But what, Jisung?!"
"So I noticed how exhausted you've been these days and I tried to cook you something.." he gulps. "but I think I accidentally overcooked it."
I remain silent, a bit baffled.
What?
He did that for me? He tried to cook for me even though he can barely fry an egg? I'm flattered, really.
"You didn't set the kitchen on fire, it seems." I exhale, relief shooting through my body. "Phew."
"Yeah.."
He walks over to the stove where some kind of chimeric creation is sizzling— it can be heard from the doorway. I follow him and look down.
The composition appears to be too liquid. And it's brown. God knows why it's brown.
There are some pancakes on the side. Most are clearly burnt, one touch and they would turn into ashes. One is uncooked.
