What if...

"No, Emma! Please, don't do this!"

Emma took Killian's hand and pressed it against her chest. It would be now or never.

"I love you," she said, briefly pressing her forehead to his before pushing him away.

She realized too late that she no longer held the dagger in her hand. She looked over at Killian, he now held the dagger and he threw his arm in the air, sacrificing himself to the darkness.

"Killian!"

"I love you too. That's why I have to do this," Killian yelled over the wind, "I've faced the darkness and won before, I can do it again."

"No! Please, no! I can't lose you!"

"Find me," the darkness was consuming him now, "Save me... I love you," And with those last words, he was consumed completely, disappearing.

Emma fell to her knees, devastated.

"No..." She whispered.

"No!" Emma woke with a start, tears trailing down her cheeks. She looked at the clock beside her bed. 3:20.

She felt Killian sit up next to her, his arms going around her waist.

Emma took a deep breath to calm down, leaning into Killian for comfort.

"You okay, Swan?" He asked, brushing some hair out of her face.

She shook her head. This was the third time in a week she'd woken up from nightmares of that night three months ago.

Killian had been returned to himself today... Well, yesterday because of how early it was, after Emma had kissed him senseless in the forest, in front of her parents and Regina, breaking the Dark One curse. True Love. Her father certainly had a few things to say about that.

This was the first night in three months Emma hadn't cried herself to sleep. She had him back, finally. But that wouldn't stop the nightmares, apparently.

"You- you were gone and..." Emma tried to speak but she was too shaken up so Killian gently touched her cheek and silenced her with a kiss instead.

"I'm here now. That's all that matters," Killian assured her.

"I love you. Please never leave me again," Emma leaned into his strong arms even more and he tightened them around her.

"I'm not going anywhere. Considering what happened earlier, I'd say you're stuck with me," he teased.

Emma laughed, laying down again and pulling him along with her.

"Good," she smiled, resting her head on his chest.

After a moment of silence, Killian spoke again. "Swan?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you so much," he said looking down at her.

"I know. But next time, please don't become the Dark One to prove that," Emma leaned up to kiss his cheek.

"As you wish," he chuckled, closing his eyes.

Emma never had another nightmare.
