Time Heals Open Wounds Part One

Spoilers, based on recent filming for 4x19 and 4x20!

For Killian, the night after Emma's curse was broken was a rough, sleepless one.

Emma hadn't taken the news that they were true love very well and he hadn't seen her since that kiss and he was worried.

She'd texted him though.

"Please tell me you're somewhere safe for the night"

He'd texted back a simple "Yes, you?"

"Yes"

"Good"

That was it.

He understood that she was probably overwhelmed, but he felt like it was his fault.

It was 3 am, but he wanted nothing more than to call her or go find her at her new apartment.

But she'd made it clear she wanted space and he didn't plan on invading it, so he lay there, in his room at Granny's for the rest of the night, until he decided that it was late enough for him to go down to the diner.

There, he found Emma's parents. They weren't exactly on speaking terms with Emma at the moment, after Emma had discovered their secret, but Killian decided that he might as well sit with them, considering they were the only people there that saw him as a friend.

"Hook?" Mary Margaret asked cautiously. The last time he'd spoken to them, he'd been quite angry and had said a few things he now regretted.

"Morning, Charmings," he said as cheerfully as he could, failing.

David saw right through it though. "What's going on? You look awful. Where's Emma? Is she okay? Did you find her?"

Killian sighed. "I'd love to know where Emma is too. She informed she's safe however. Aye, Regina, Belle and I found her. Turns out, she was under a curse that made her go dark. It was broken and she fled," Killian said.

"How was it broken? That would need true- oh," Mary Margaret said, looking at Killian with a small grin.

"Aye. She ran away though. I suppose she was overwhelmed. She told me on my talking phone with the bubbles that she was okay. Somewhere safe for the night," Killian said, staring at the floor.

"She texted you," David corrected him.

"Sure," Killian mumbled.

"Hook, you need to find her. She doesn't want to talk to us. Obviously, she loves you. She'll listen," Mary Margaret said gently, putting a hand on his arms.

Killian shook his head. "I think she's angry at me. Before I kissed her and broke the curse, she said that she'd hate me forever if I put the pressure of having a romantic true love on her. I just couldn't let her stay like that, I didn't mean-"

"Hook, stop. She can't hate you. Even under that curse, she still loved you. You should see if she's spoken to Henry," David said.

Killian nodded. He knew that was the most the couple could do. Most of the family had stopped speaking to them after they found out what they'd done. He got up from the booth and left the diner, headed for Regina's to find Henry.

That's when he received another text from Emma.

"I'm at town hall. If you aren't too mad at me, can you meet me here?"

"On my way"

He rushed to town hall, where he found Emma, Regina and Henry, waiting.

Emma slowly walked up to him and took his hand.

"Regina and I found a lead on the author. In Pawtucket... We're leaving now. I know we have a lot to talk about and I know you probably think I hate you because of what I said and I know that I should say something before I go but I..." She trailed off. All she was doing was babbling.

"But I love you. And when I get back, everything will be okay again. I don't hate you, I promise. I just... Need some time. A few days. Between my parents and this, I need a few days off. I'm sorry, Killian, I know you'll be worrying about me and I'm just- I love you, okay?"

Though after yesterday, Killian obviously knew that, it was still amazing to hear, especially because he had spent the night fearing she hated him.

"Okay. I love you too," Killian nodded.

Emma had tears streaming down her cheeks and he wiped them away softly.

"Now go," he said, "find the author."

Emma nodded.

"Good luck," he said as Emma got into the bug with Regina.

Henry came over to stand beside Killian as they waved goodbye to his mother's.

"Guess I get to stay with you the next few days!" Henry said.

Killain looked at him, confused.

"Check your pocket," Henry said with a smile.

Sure enough, Killian found a key to Emma's apartment in his pocket.
