Just For a Night

The first time they spent the night together, she burst into his room after a particularly awful nightmare.

She woke up with a start, calling for Killian. She realized she was in her room at Granny's Diner, but still, that dream had felt so real. He'd been taken away from her. Permanently. The newest threat, the psychotic snow queen, had frozen his heart.

She tried to stop crying. The sobs were getting louder, and she felt the only way to stop them was to assure herself that he was fine, and just across the hallway, in his room.

With a sigh, Emma got out of bed and left her room. Surprisingly, the door to her boyfriend's room was unlocked, and she burst in.

Killian barely had time to wake up before she was beside him in his bed, her head resting gently on his chest, the tears still falling, but she could feel herself falling asleep.

The last this she remembered was Killian putting an arm around her waist and planting a kiss on her forehead.

In the morning, when she awoke, wrapped in the warm blankets and Killian's strong arms, she lazily drew patterns on his chest until he woke up and they went to eat breakfast together.

The second time they spent the night together, it was because Emma had been in a car crash.

She'd been driving down Main Street when the icy road had gotten the better of her old yellow bug. Both her and the car would survive, but she had gotten a mild concussion.

Dr. Whale had said someone needed to check on her every few hours, and, of course Killian had volunteered.

He stayed awake the while night, beside her, making sure she was okay. In the morning, when her parents came over to check on her, she let Killian sleep in her bed, and once Snow and Charming left, they spent the afternoon cuddled up together.

The third time they slept together, the actually slept together.

It was after Emma's nightmare had come true, and his heart had been frozen. In a desperate attempt, Emma had kissed him, breaking the spell with true love.

They had defeated the snow queen that day.

Killian and Emma had decided that they should celebrate that, and their new "true love" status.

Two weeks after that, they moved into a nice apartment just a few minutes away from her parents together.

"Welcome home," Killian had said, smoothing out the sheets they had just put on their new bed.

Later on that night, they pounced on each other, effectively ruining the brand new sheets, but, as Emma fell asleep that night, her smile grew wider as she thought "Four, and many more to come."
