What if Emma and AU Killian had more time together to practice sword fighting?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You're holding it wrong," Emma chided as Killian fumbled with his sword. She had to admit that this uncoordinated and nervous version of her usually flirty and sassy boyfriend was pretty damn adorable.
"How do I- oh, uh..." Killian stuttered as Emma helped him hold it right and showed him a few simple motions... Again.
"How do you know how to use this weapon? I thought you were a princess," Killian said.
"I had one hell of a teacher," Emma chuckled.
"Who?"
"You," she said.
"Then we know each other in this other world?" Killian asked.
"Very well, yes," Emma said.
"Tell me more about this other reality. How do we know each other?" Killian asked curiously.
Emma laughed and sat down on the dock, her feet hanging over the water. She motioned for him to sit beside her. "It's a pretty crazy story, really. When I first met you, you were under a pile of dead bodies. You were a selfish asshole who only cared about himself. We didn't really hit it off too well..."
"But?" Killian prompted.
"But then... We got to know each other better. We bonded over shared experiences and you changed. You found your good heart. For me. And I," Emma wasn't sure if she should say it. He'd remember when they fixed this. She'd been scared for a while to tell him, to mess with what they had, but this Killian was so clueless and innocent. She felt like she could tell him anything. Maybe it would be easier this way... "I fell in love with you," she admitted.
"How did the selfish asshole deserve someone as amazing you?" Killian wondered.
Emma tried not to swoon. This man, this shell of the Killian she knew and loved was just so different and it was honestly so endearing.
"The funny thing is sometimes, I wonder how I deserve him. He changed so much," Emma looked out at the horizon. "He takes me to the docks a lot. We sit like this," Emma gestured between them, "We talk. The last time we went to the docks, I was upset and he told me the horizon is calming. I asked for rum," Emma laughed. "I wish I'd savoured that moment more."
"You miss him," Killian noticed.
Emma realized that there were tears falling down her cheeks. Killian reached over to gently wipe them away. That was another one of his traits that hadn't been erased by the author and Rumplestiltskin.
"I know it's silly. I know that really, it's only been a few hours since I last saw him, but with the book and my story being changed, it feels like years," she admitted.
Emma wasn't sure if it was the look of sheer sympathy on Killian's face, or how much she missed him, but suddenly she leaned forward, connecting their lips in a first kiss that was so different from the heated, passionate mess that was Neverland. This was soft and sweet. It was a comforting promise that they'd fix this. It was a pleading "I miss you". However, it didn't last long.
As quickly as the kiss began, it was broken by a strong gust of wind and suddenly, everything around them began to dissipate. This alternate reality was collapsing on itself.
Emma's eyes shot open. She realized that she was laying in the middle of the street.
As she got up, Regina shot her a questioning look but she waved her off and ran towards her parent's loft where she assumed Killian would be.
Deep down, Emma knew what had happened. She knew why, after she'd kissed Killian, they'd returned. But as she ran through the town to find him, she couldn't dwell on that.
When Emma burst through the front door of the loft, Killian stood there waiting. Ignoring her parents, she ran straight into his arms, giggling.
"We did it," she said happily, pulling back to look at her before he captured her lips in another kiss.
