Cash POV
Kenin forgot her pouch so I followed her home. . . that I regret afterwards.
I was in front of their main door when I suddenly heard them fighting. Kenin didn't fully close the door.
"Ansakit sakit makita na nahihirapan ka. Pero mas masakit kung wala akong gagawin para tulungan ka!" Kenin shouted and even I don't see her face, I know she's hurt.
Guilt suddenly swallowed me as I remember spitting hurtful words to her back then.
I hastily turned my back around and went outside their gate. I walked away with full of guiltiness. I parked my car on the nearest 7/11 store. While walking, I fight the urge not to message Kenin and asked if she's alright.
"Stupid, she's definitely not." I cursed myself.
I let out a sighed before I dialed her phone number. It took her a minute to answer.
"Hey," I said softly.
"Napatawag ka? Miss mo 'ko?" she joked on the other line.
"May sipon ka?" I asked her dumbly when I heard her sniffing, trying if she gonna tell me about what happen.
"Wala. Nahatsing lang ako." she lied. "Bakit ka nga napatawag?"
I licked my lower lips. I understand she don't want me to know about that. "I'm here now at the 7/11 near your house."
I heard her footstep on the other line. "Anong ginagawa mo diyan?"
"I'm craving for some ice cream and also you left your pouch at the bakeshop earlier."
I heard her opening the door. "Gege, wait mo 'ko, Sensei." she said. I heard her sighing. "Sa bintana kaya ako dumaan?" she asked herself.
"That's not the best idea." I answered.
"Ay shit hindi ko pa pala pinapatay!" saad niya sa sarili bago ako binabaan ng tawag.
I wait for her inside. After a couple of minutes, she finally came. I smiled at her when she stepped in. She smiled back at me but it didn't reach her eyes like what I expected.
Her eyes are puffy and her nose is red. She seems so down. But I act as If I didn't notice her changes.
She sat in front of me and I push a cup of banana ice cream towards her direction. Banana is a happy food.
"Saan yung pouch ko?" she asked softly.
"Inside my car." I answered.
She nodded. "Kunin ko na lang mamaya." she snapped her fingers. "Saka yung hoodie mo pala, hindi ko pa nababalik."
I chuckled. "It's already one month and half since I lent you my hoodie. It looks like you never planned to bring it back to me." I teased her.
She defensively slapped my arms. "Hoy, hindi, ah! Busy lang talaga ako!"
I laughed and nodded. "You can have it, though."
She smiled and then she went silent again. She starts eating the ice cream and I let the silent swallowed us.
"Ganda ng timing mo." she starts. She looked at me and she smiled sadly. "Nag-away kami ni Mama kanina." she confessed. "Nalaman niya na nagta-trabaho na ako." she added. "Gusto niya 'ko mag-resign."
I know. I heard everything.
"Pero ayoko. Kasi pag nagresign ako parang iniwan ko na rin ang pangarap ko. Kasi diba, doon ako natuto kung paano magbake. Doon ko nalaman kung anong gusto ko. At hindi ko kayang itapon na lang yun ng basta basta. Isa pa, hindi na 'to tungkol sa pera. Tungkol na 'to sa pangarap ko." she uttered.
