He sat on his table over some paperwork.

It was pretty late but he knew he had to do this and he couldn't sleep anyways.
It was part of the job.
His phone buzzed and he looked up.
At this time?

When this was Soap sending him stupid memes in the middle of the night he would kill him.
This time for real.

He walked over to his night stand and picked up his phone.
It was from Liz.

*hey Simon. You still up?*

Why wasn't she sleeping?

~yes I'm still up~
~everything ok?~

He stared at his phone.
Why wasn't she answering?

~Liz?~

*yeah I'm fine. Can't sleep*
*actually no. I'm not fine. I feel terrible*
*can you come over?*

~on my way~
~I'll be there in 5~

He jumped in his black sweat pants and a black tshirt, grabbed his mask from the table and left his room.

He didn't even put shoes on.
He walked down the hallway in his socks.
As he came to one of the last doors on the hallway he stopped.
He gently knocked on her door.
He didn't wanted to wake up anyone else.

No answer.
But he could hear quiet muffled sobbs through the door.

The door was unlocked.
He got in and quietly closed the door behind him.
The room was dark except the little lamp on her bedside table.
And there she was.

Curled up in her big bed.
In her pink pyjama pants and a simple white top.
Her knees pulled to her chest and her open hair falling into her face.
As she looked up he could see her tear stained face.
His heart dropped.

He instantly walked over, took off his mask and kneeled next to her bed.

„Hey. What's wrong"

She looked at him.
Her gaze full of pain.
He understood, he knew this feeling.

„Nightmares?"

he asked gently.
She nodded.

„Can you....can you maybe stay here?"

she whispered quiet.
He nodded.
He went to the other side of the bed and layed down next to her.
He pulled her closer.

She immediately cuddled onto him.
He prayed that she wouldn't notice his absolutely bursting heartbeat but he thought that you could probably hear this on the other side of the base.
She layed her head on his chest.
He wrapped one arm around her and gently played with her hair and stroked over her back.

They said nothing.
They just layed there in silence.
For him this was what heaven must feel like.
Like every one of his dreams coming true.

This was what he craved for months now.
And now she was in his arms.
She trusted him enough that she had asked him to come over.

HIM!

his heart was filled with pure joy.
Even though he knew she didn't felt good.
But that's what he wanted to change.
He was here to protect her, to comfort her.

He slowly pulled her on top of him.
Wrapping both arms around her.
Holding her tightly.
She took deep breaths.

He could feel her breath becoming more steady.
She burried her face into his chest.
He gently stroked her hair.
