Staying

I was up early.
I wanted to make cookies for the team.
Since they would all leave for Christmas I decided to do something nice before they left.

I would stay at the base.
I had no family I could go to.
I hadn't told Ghost yet.
I knew he wouldn't be too happy about it.

I was so happy to have some free time and just be me for once.
Wear my jewellery, make my hair, wear lose clothing.

And most of all.
Wear no mask.
Yes it gave me some kind of peace and safety.
But the only ones left were my team.
I trusted them.
They were like my family already.
I didn't had to hide.
I didn't wanted to make a big deal out of it so I just decided to let my mask in my room.

As I prepared the Cookie batter i noticed Ghost coming in.

I ignored him.
How could he drink tea like on every time of the day?
It was a riddle to me.
As he grabbed my arm I got bloody pissed.
What was now?
The next lecture of what to do and what not to do?
I prepared to argue.

But he just said he thinks it looks good?
Was I dreaming?
Did he just said something nice?
I was too confused to even counter something.

Also because shortly after that the kitchen door swung open and almost bursted.
Ghost and I turned around on instant.
Soap stood in the door frame.
Panting and grinning from ear to ear.

„AHA!"

he almost screamed.

„What the hell Soap"

Ghost grunted.

Shortly after Soap Roach ran in his back, kicking him inside the kitchen and standing there.

„ohhhh"

he said while staring at me.

„What the fuck is it with you two?"

I said crossing my arms.

„Your face!"

said Soap smiling.

„König said he saw you walking to the kitchen without your mask. We had to check if he just lied"

he stated.

„No he didn't."

I chucked.
At this moment König apeared behind Roach.
I could see in his eyes he was smiling.

„Good morning, Kleine Maus"

he said sweet.

I smiled bright and shook my head.
My smile faded pretty quickly as Soap and Roach got out money and handed it to König.

„You little brats made bets on my face?"

I gave each of them death stares.
They all flinched.

„Well...yeah"

Roach said quiet.

„At least tell me who set a bet on what!"

I ordered in a stern tone.

„I assume you two were bloody wrong"

„Soap said you probably had a lot of scars or something different that you want to hide. And Roach said you're probably ugly"

said König loud.
The other two looked clearly ashamed.

„I knew this wouldn't be it. I knew you were stunning"

he winked at me.

I roled my eyes.

„You three are unbelievable. I should throw this cookie batter away or just eat it myself!"

I heard a deep chuckle from behind me

„Even I knew she wouldn't be ugly you idiots"

said Ghost calm and walked past me with his tea.

Did he just?
What was it with this morning?
Ghost being nice to me?
These idiots betting on my face?
I just grunted and went back to my cookie batter.

The weeks till Christmas went by pretty quick.
One week before Christmas everyone was ready to leave.
I was in my bed, reading in peace as Ghost came through my door without even knocking.

I looked up clearly annoyed.

„Wow. Ever heard of knocking?"

I said raising an eyebrow.

„Why didn't you tell me?"

he almost yelled.
I felt my blood start to boil.
I hated it when he talked to me like that.

„What are you even talking about?"

„You're staying? Here? The whole time? No! Don't you have a family to go to or something!?"

He was furious.
And loud.
Too loud.
I stood up and stemmed my hands on my hips.

„That's none of your business lieutenant! I won't bother you don't worry"

„No I don't want that. I want my peace! You're leaving Siren!"

I could see in his eyes how angry he was.
I hated when he called me my code name.
No one did that.
Everyone called me Liz.

„Im staying. Whether you like it or not!"

„No go to your family. They are probably as annoying as you. So you can annoy them!"

he waved his arms like a mad man.
I didn't moved an inch.
This was too much.
He crossed a line.
A big one.

I slapped him hard across the face.
He stopped in his movements.
His eyes full of confusion and pure anger.
I stared cold back.

„I don't have a family you asshole.
I'm staying.
And now.
Out.
Of.
My.
Room.
NOW!"

I yelled the last word.
I felt tears fill my eyes.
This was too far.
He went quiet.

I could see the instant regret in his eyes.
But I couldn't see much more through his mask.
He turned around and left without saying another word.
I was shaking.
I wanted to smash something.
I was overflowing with rage.
After some time I heard light knocks on my door.

„No"

I just barked.

The door opened nonetheless.
It was Price.
I was sure everyone would have heard us.

„Hey lizzy. Everything ok little one?"

he came closer.
I remained silent.
I fidgeted with my rings.

„Hey he didn't meant it that way.
He didn't knew. Really. If you feel uncomfortable staying you can come with me. My family would love to see you"

he said calm.
Pulling me into a light hug.

„No J.P.. im grown up.
It's your family not mine.
I will stay. Wether he likes it or not."

I wouldn't go.
Not now.
Not after this.
Just to proof my point.
Price let out a big sigh.

„Just please don't kill each other"

„can't promise that"

I said short.
