The idea

He didn't even knew what had hit him to think like that.
She was so right.
Like always.
He had to finally learn how to fucking comunicate.

And he did.
He opened up more.
Letting her being a part of his thoughts.
And he realised how it helped him.
To hear her opinion or just having her listen to him.

Her sparkling eyes when he just dumped his thoughts on her and she just listened.
Fully concentrated.

The boundaries they had set for work loosened up more and more.
He couldn't stand some new recruits or the rookies flirting with her.
He wanted them to know where she belonged.
He would make sure of that.

But the day came.
Everything happened in one week.
Lizs rookies were finished with training and got sorted into teams.
And this week she got new ones.
She was so excited.

But Simon had gotten the massage that he got a mission and would leave the same week.

She was so sad that he couldn't be there.
Simon's mind was eased a little bit because he knew Price wouldn't come with them to the mission.
He stayed at base.
He was there.
But Simon couldn't be there for her.
He felt terrible.

But there was no way around it.
The day he left she looked so sad.
It launched him into such a bad mood he didn't spoke to anyone that day.
Soap tried to cheer him up where he could but that annoyed Simon even more.

As they arrived at their destination and got their first intel he couldn't even concentrate.
He walked back to the rooms they were put in as Soap catched up to him.

„Ghost wait"

Simon didn't stopped but slowed down.

„What is it?"

„Still in a bad mood I see"

„Soap really I'm not in the mood for your banter"

„Come on. We will be back soon.
She's good.
She will handle this.
And Price is with her."

„But I'm not. I'm her boyfriend"

„I know. I know. But you guys will figure it out"

„And how? I can't just say no to missions.
That's not my decision."

Soap nodded and walked along him.
Then he nudged his shoulder.

„Why don't you put a ring on her?"

He grinned.
Simon looked up.

„What?"

„Marry her.
I mean it's about time you ask her.
After all this.
You wouldn't have to worry about other recruits when she carries your name.
And you get a ton of benefits from the military"

„Really?"

„Yes of course. You don't know?
When you're married in the military you get a shit load of benefits.
Prioritised free time together, you get to choose which mission you attend as long as you reach a certain amount or serving time.
Or at least get a good report.
There are some exceptions for that so you could turn down missions.
And a lot more. It would actually help you.
I mean have you never thought about marrying her?"

Simon was speechless.
He actually had never thought about this.
Marriage was never a topic in his life.

But when he thought about it Liz would be the only person in his life he would marry.
He didn't even thought about all the benefits.

Her carrying his name?
This sounded perfect.

„You're brilliant Soap"

Soaps mouth stood open.

„That I hear you say that to me.
That's a miracle.
I'm gonna mark this day in my calendar"

Simon rolled his eyes.

„Yeah write it on your diary"

he said sarcastically.

„Aaaaand the moment is gone"

Soap said disappointed.

„So you gonna ask her?"

He teased him.

„Well maybe. Im gonna think about it"

Simon muttered.
He had to think about it a little more.
He couldn't just ask her casually.
And what if she would say no?
Would she?

Now his head was full of even more thoughts than before.
But at least they were a little brighter than the ones before.

The mission went surprisingly smoothly and they could return after two weeks.

He had gotten some updated from Liz through the two weeks.
He was a bit concerned.

She had written about an incident that happened in the first week but didn't wanted to elaborate further.
She said she would tell him when he was back.
It wouldn't be something bad when it could wait right?

As they returned to the base he walked out to the fields to search for Liz.
He hadn't told her he would be back today so he assumed she would be out here to train the new rookies.

And he saw a bunch of new rookies running rounds.
But he couldn't see her.
He was a little happy to see so much girls in the group. Liz had really an impact.
He was so proud.

He walked closer and kept looking around.
There were three women standing on the side discussing something.
He didn't knew them and assumed they would be rookies.

„Ey where's your supervisor?"

He said loud approaching them.
The two women facing him looked up and looked clearly irritated and looked back at the women before them.

As she turned around Simon blinked a couple times.

It was Liz.

He hadn't recognised her because her usually long dirty blond hair was in a braid or open.
But there was no braid.
Her hair was only about shoulder length.
There were missing almost 10 inches.

She smiled bright and ran towards him.
She jumped into his arms.
He catched her in the last second and squeezed her.

„My love I'm sorry I didn't recognised you but your hair. Where is it?"

„Oh I cut it. It was kind of an incident.
Do you not like it?"

She reached up to her hair and nervously stroked over it.
He pulled her close and ruffled her hair.

„I love it. You look so cute"

he grinned.
She scrunched her nose.

„This isn't supposed to look cute Simon"

„Ehm yes of course you look ehhh tough?"

„Yes way better"

She smiled bright.
She looked stunning.
She introduced him to the rookies.

„Everyone this is lieutenant Simon Riley. My boyfriend"

Her bright smile and her enthusiasm brightened his mood on instant.

In this moment it was clear to him.
He had to marry her.
It was her or no one.
