Noctis

As I woke up Simon had already left.
I was a bit sad until I found some flowers on the kitchen counter with a small card.

~Sorry my love I had to go early.
Didn't wanted to wake you. Have a nice day.~

I smiled and shook my head.
This was new for him.
But it lifted my mood instantly.

In general my day went pretty smooth.
My rookies were excellent in training that day.
I had almost no paperwork to do.
It was peaceful.

But I hadn't seen Simon all day.
He was no where to be found.
Just as the others of the team.
It was strange.

But I thought maybe they were out together and forgot to tell me.
I was in my office as I got a message from Simon.

I gathered my things and almost ran outside.
I wasn't sure what happened but it sounded pretty serious.
As I arrived at the field I could see no one.

„Simon?"

I said loud but no answer.
I walked closer to the little sheds with the training tools.

„Simon!"

I got even louder.
Still nothing and no one.
Was this a sick joke?

Suddenly a small Rottweiler puppy ran around a corner towards me.
He stumbled over my feet.

„Oh. Hello little guy who are you?
And where's your owner. Here is no one"

I said confused and crouched down to him.
He instantly licked over my face.

He was too cute.
It was odd.
He was clearly too young for a K9.
I searched for a tag or something and found a little letter attached to his collar.
I took it and read it.

~Hello my name is Noctis.
I'm really excited to meet my new mommy.
My new dad told me already a lot about her.
And he would be very happy when he could take her out on a date tomorrow.~

I blinked a couple of times.
I lifted the puppy up and smiled.
Did he really bought me a dog?
I couldn't believe this.

„Hello little Noctis.
You're a real cutie.
But where is your dad?"

I looked up and saw Simon walking around the same corner the puppy had come from.
Without mask and a bright smile plastered over his face.

„Simon! Did you? He's for me? Really?"

I was speechless.
I felt little happy tears in my eyes.

„Yes.
He's yours.
Or ours.
I don't want you to be alone anymore when I can't be there.
I already talked to the k9 trainers.
They can take him when we can't and when he's old enough they will teach him some useful stuff"

He smiled proud down to me and stroked the puppy with two fingers.

„Simon...you have no idea what that means to me. Thank you so much."

„All I wanna see is that pretty smile of yours.
And I would do anything for it."

„And a date huh?"

I grinned.

„We hadn't had one in forever and I'm sure Gerome misses you"

he laughed.

„Sounds true"

I smiled and cuddled the little puppy.
I set him down and wrapped my arms around Simon's neck.

„I love you so much Simon."

He kissed me deep and long.
This was like a dream.
Like everything I ever wanted.

And this date was a good opportunity to tell him some things I had decided lately.
Things that would influence our life.
Or at least mine.

As we walked back from the field we met the team.
I had assumed they all had known and had helped. And I could tell I was right by the look on their faces.
Soap instantly snatched Noctis away from me.

„Ey! That's my puppy"

„Well now it's ours! He's too cute"

he said running away with him.
I started to run after him.

„John Mactavish!
If you don't give back my dog I'm gonna have him trained to bite your ass!"

He ran loud laughing.
I finally catched him.
I jumped on his back.
My feet dangling in the air.
He set the dog down and kept me in the air.

„Johnnnnyyyyyy!"

I squeaked loud.

This was one of the best days of my life.
My little family.

As we came home I let Noctis explore the apartment while I made some dinner.
Simon walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
He rested his head on top of mine.

„I'm almost ready love"

I mumbled.

„Take your time. You look beautiful"

he murmured and kissed my head.
I smiled sweet.

„Who came up with his name?"

I asked as the thought crossed my mind.

„Hm?"

It seemed like I had pulled Simon out of his thoughts.

„His name. Did he already had it or was it your idea."

„Oh it was actually Soaps and Roachs idea.
We got him yesterday and he  stayed with Soap and Roach at the base.
They said it would suit him and I thought it sounded nice."

„I'm surprised. It's Latin for night.
That these two idiots know Latin. Hard to believe"

I laughed slightly.

„They probably just googled cool dog names"

Simon laughed rough.

„Very likely. But I'm glad.
They wanted to take part. It's cute. And the name is really beautiful"

„That's right."

We heard something getting knocked over and Simon sighed.

„I'm gonna go and look. I have to make this flat puppy proof"

I laughed and watched him go.
I knew he did all this for me but he really seemed to enjoy it too.
And I was glad.
I was happy that he not only did this to shut me up or only make me happy.
He did this for both of us.
