CHAPTER FOUR ; BABE
season 2 episode 4
———

SELENE JOLTS HERSELF AWAKE, her eyes snapping opening to get herself out of that nightmare. Her heart was racing and she could feel a layer of sweat coating her forehead. To make matters worse she realized that the Impala—Alone.

She leaned forward to peer in the front seat, as if she would find them laying down hiding from her. But, to no surprise—it was empty. They've been on the road for hours, Selene managed to fall asleep, she's also realized that car rides put her to sleep. Just the movement of it, the soft music in the background and the faint chatter of Dean and Sam. It was the perfect remedy for a nap and she finds that she doesn't have nightmares when Sam and Dean are in the car, but seeing that neither of them are here, it makes sense why the nightmares haunted her dream once more.

"Mornin' princess." Dean greeted, his nickname for her supposed to be an insult. Yet Selene took no offence to it, she simply just hated it because it came from him. Which was all Dean needed to continue to use it.

Selene turned to look out the window where she saw now that they were in a graveyard, and saw Dean leaning against the side of the Impala. In a tired movement, Selene climbs out of the car, closing the door and leaning against it next to Dean, which is when she saw Sam. Who was crouching down in front a grave, his mothers.

Selene can't help but wonder what it must be like to miss your loving parents, seeing as Selene's were terrified of her and wanted nearly nothing to do with the young girl. Her brother was about the only one in that family to not hate her, he loved her no matter what their parents tried to make him believe. In his eyes, she was never a monster.

Then, Selene glanced over at Dean, seeing his blank face as he watched his brother. Selene couldn't help but awkwardly clear her throat, causing Dean to break his attention and look at her suspiciously.

That's when Selene asked, "Do you want me to ask?"

Without having to elaborate, Dean knew what she meant. It was her way of asking without actually asking if he was okay. Since it was also his dead mother in the grave back there as well.

"Nah, we ain't friends like that." Dean told her, turning away from her and catching his attention on something else--which Selene thought was just a way to leave the conversation.

As Dean left, she mumbled to herself out of ear shot of him, "Not like we're any kind of friends."

Selene didn't move from her spot as she watched as Dean stood in the middle of the graveyard, staring down at the ground while doing a circle. Looking like a mad man, Selene tilted her head looking at him, and was certain that he had lost his mind--if he had one to begin with.

"Come here!" Dean shouted over to her, making a gesture with his hand to wave her over. Selene sighed slightly, pushing her tired body off the Impala and making her way towards the slightly crazed Dean. When she approached him, he asked without looking up, "Do you see that?"

So, Selene finally looked down at the ground that he hadn't been able to take his eyes off of. That's when she saw it, it was a perfect circle of dead grass compared to the bright and healthy green grass surrounding it. It was odd, she will admit, but she there had to be an explanation for it.

When Selene looks up, she sees Dean studying her face to see her reaction, but then she shrugs and suggestions, "Gardening issues?"
