CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR ; DRUNK DIAL
———

CURRENTLY, Selene sat at a bar but she wasn't alone—and it wasn't the Winchester's she was with. Selene sat at the bar table with a certain demon by her side, Azazel. She had summoned him, and for whatever reason, he took her to this dive bar in the town her and the Winchester's were staying in. It was packed, music was loud and the chatter was louder. Smelt of drunken men, something Selene didn't want to get used to.

"Why are we here?" Selene asked, staring at the glass of water she ordered herself. She wasn't here for pleasure, she was here on business.

"I'd like to consider us friends—more than just business partners." Azazel told her, but his voice had left her feeling unsettled. As always. "But you're the one to tell me why we're here."

Selene swallowed the lump in her throat, she had been preparing herself for this. Unsure of what to say, or how to say it. But, there was mo more trying to beat around the bush, it was now or never. "The deals off."

There was a long silence that followed, and Selene was partly scared of the consequences that were about to come. Azazel has promised to kill her and kill her brother if she called this deal off—but her brother was dead and she was okay with the chance of death.

"You think you can just call it off whenever you want?" Azazel asked, and Selene still didn't even dare to look over at him. She wasn't ready to come face to face with him, especially with those yellow eyes. But this was what had to happen, Selene had to face up to and stand strong on her decision.

So, Selene made the bold move to look over at Azazel. His face blank of emotions but still putting a fear deeply rooted in Selene's bones. Selene tried to do the same, keeping her face void of all emotions.

"You're deal wasn't fair. I got the book and it didn't work. So now, the deal is off." Selene spoke sternly and with determination despite the nervousness she felt.

Azazel narrowed his eyes in on her slightly, as if he was in deep thought. Although, part of him looked almost disappointed. Was he disappointed that Selene was calling off the deal or that her magic failed? "I held up my end of the deal, if you weren't powerful enough for the book that's not my fault."

This felt like a stab in an already made wound, Selene had too take a deep breath to try and control herself, there were in a public place and Selene didn't want her emotions to get the best of her. She had to remain composed.

"Doesn't matter. The deals off." Selene spoke again.

What Selene didn't expect was to hear Azazel deeply chuckle, as if something was funny, when Selene felt like she was going to burst from all this stress. "Is something funny?"

"Yes, you." Azazel responded casually, "You're not calling the deal off because you want to leave the Winchester's, you're doing it because you plan on staying with them. You just want a clear conscience."

Selene didn't reply because it was the truth, she knew if she wanted to continue growing with Sam and building her relationship with Dean, she had to end this with Azazel as soon as possible. It was a constant weight on her shoulders, and with Azazel out of her life—she'll hopefully be able to put this behind her.

"You know what, fine. Deals off." Azazel told her, he then stood from the chair and Selene was hoping that this was the end of the conversation. But when Azazel stood he took a step closer to Selene, his face so close to hers that she felt his dangerous breath on her skin, "You care to much, so you'll still be doing my bidding.  But if calling it off helps you sleep at night, so be it."
