CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO; SEEING GHOSTS
season 2 episode 15
———

IN ANOTHER CHEAP MOTEL ROOM, Sam is flipping through the pages of some research book while Dean sat on the bed, eating food and listening to music. Sam glanced over at Dean for a moment, quickly doing a double take as he asked, "Dude, do you mind not eating those on my bed?"

"No, I don't mind." Dean takes another mouthful of his chicken wings, sauce coated his lips as he licked his fingers cleaned, "How's the research going?"

Sam slams the books closed, "You know how it's going? Slow. You know how it would go a heck of a lot faster? If I had my computer."

Still, Dean seems to not care. He cared even less when Sam wanted the music turned down, in fact—Dean turned the music up louder.

Sam felt like his head was gonna spin, that's why he loudly suggested, "Y'know what? Maybe you should just go somewhere for a while."

Dean leans over and turns off the music, "Hey, I'd love to. That's a great idea, unfortunately my car's gone!" Dean raised his voice.

Sam raised his voice right back at him as he defended himself, "You're the one who gave it to her—"

There was a knock at the door that interrupted them from their conversation, Sam was the one to stand from his seat and go towards the door. As he does, he says over to his brother, "I forgot how much of an ass you can be when Selene's not here."

Just as Dean opened his mouth to retaliate, Sam pulled open the door. Revealing Bobby Singer. Dean started to stand from the bed as both boys greeted the man casually, but their tones were tense and annoyed.

Sam steps out of the way and allows Bobby to come into the room, taking a quick look around and seeing that they were missing a certain red head. "Where's Selene?"

"Oh, uh—she had some...personal business to attend to. If that's what we're gonna call it." Dean replied, pulling open the fridge and reaching for a beer.

Bobby looks at Sam, confused and almost concerned, but Sam just waves it off, "We'll get to that later. Right now, we need your help on this job we're working. We weren't sure you'd believe us over the phone."

Sam told him as they both took a seat at the kitchen table, where Dean was already sitting with his beer in his hand. As Bobby sat down, he snickered and spoke again, "Well, I can believe a lot. So why don't you start from the beginning."

The two boys nod their head, the first time they've agreed on anything. That's when Sam starts by saying, "It all started when we caught wind of an obit. See a professor took a nosedive from a fourth story window. Only there's a campus legend that the building's haunted. So, we pretexted as reporters from the local paper. It was going well, beside Selene—she seemed out of it..."

A WEEK EARLIER

The three found themselves at some college bar, Selene was leaning against the bar observing all the people around them. Trying to pick out anything suspicious as the boys did more investigating. The drink in her hand was untouched, the ice melted by the time Dean came back to her.

Dean took his place next to her at the bar, putting his arm over the counter to be closer to her, "Got anything?"

"An urban legend." Selene told him, to which Dean seemed intrigued to hear more, "Some girl thirty years ago was sleeping with her professor and then when he broke it off, she jumped out the window and killed herself. Some of the students think she now haunts the building."

"Thinking we might have a spirit on our hands?" Dean asked, turning to the bartender that was behind them and ordering himself a drink.

Selene shrugs casually as she puts her glass on the table, "It's too early to tell." At the moment the bartender comes back with two shot glasses, Dean holds both of them and is about to hand them to Selene but sees that she's not even looking at him.
