CHAPTER FORTY-TWO: A LONG NIGHT
season 3 episode 1
———

"NOBODY IS GOING ANYWHERE ALONE." Bobby stated sternly. The group had gathered back at the house, where they had the demon in the devil trap. Currently, they were standing outside the room as Tamara was trying to go back to the demon filled bar to get her husband back.

Sam and Selene were in the middle of trying to talk her out of it, Bobby just straight up denying her to leave and go by herself, but suddenly Reese spoke up and said, "I'll go, two's better than one."

The words stunned them all, especially the youngest one. Whose eyes widened and turned to stare up at her older sister, "What? No you won't. If seven of you couldn't fight them I doubt two of you will. It's a dumb suicide mission."

"It's Issac, Ali. He saved our lives once, we owe it to him." Reese said to her, trying to convince her—but it was pointless. The young girl just shook her head, not thinking that it's worth her sister's life to save a dead a man.

"Don't be stupid. That's our one rule, remember?" Alison pleaded with Reese, a desperation in her voice as she spoke. Although Alison didn't say it, she wanted to, she wanted to scream at her sister and tell her how stupid it was to go back and save a him, she wanted Issac to be okay—but selfishly, she didn't want it to be at the expense of her sister.

Dean is glancing at the kid, seeing the fear across her face at the idea of losing her big sister. Dean's seen that face before, in his own eyes, at the fear of losing Sam. Dean sighed a little, unnoticed by the others, as if he felt like he had no other choice but to say, "I'll go with them."

Alison looked over at him, a gloss covering her brown eyes. She wasn't crying, it wasn't tears that coated her eyes—it was thankfulness.

"Like hell you will." Selene said from beside him, she had turned to face him completely.

Sam adds, "She's right, it's suicide, Dean!"

Dean shrugs his shoulders, "So what? I'm dead already." Dean said casually, as if it wasn't a big deal. As if his death would be nothing more than a minor inconvenience for them, and Selene was really getting sick of it.

Shaking her head, Selene stared at him with a mixture of disbelief, anger and disappointment. "Fine, go ahead. Get yourself and everyone killed because who cares, right?" Selene spoke, her voiced laced with sarcasm and anger.

Furious with Dean and his constant act that he doesn't care that he's dying, it was offensive almost. He didn't care to even try and live, which almost feels like he doesn't even care to try and have a life with Selene. Every joke and every reckless decision he does is a constant reminder of the life they will never have.

Dean opened his mouth to say something to her, but she turned her back to him already. Taking a step away from him as she stood closer to Sam. Who he dared to look over at, and the second their eyes locked it triggered Sam to say, "We don't even know how many of them there are!"

Which is when Bobby finally speaks up and says, "Yeah, we do. There's seven. Do you have any idea what we're dealing with?" He had gotten lost in his book in his hands, but after he asked his question he looked up at the group, seeing the several confused faces.

"The seven deadly sins. In 1589, Binsfeld ID'd the seven sins, not just as human vices but as actual devils." Bobby explained to them, which made sense as to how they could control humans with just words and simple touch. They weren't the usual demons they've been hunting, and that rooted a sort of fear inside of them.
