CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR: LUCKY STREAK
season 3 episode 3
———

AFTER PICKING UP SELENE, the boys explained that someone had broken into their dads storage container, but not without getting shot. There was a whole lot of stuff there, things they didn't know but as far as they could tell, only one thing was taken. Which means whoever did it had a mission.

But thankfully, the security camera managed to spot the getaway cars license plate. So that's what they were doing now, hunting down the culprits.

"Do we know what they took?" Selene asked from the backseat.

"A box that had something bad in it." Sam answered, not bothering to look back at her as he was nose deep in whatever book he found at his dad's.

"That's just perfect," Selene nodded her head, snickered sarcastically at their luck lately. Then she followed up by asking, "Did you find anything interesting in your dad's top secret unit?"

As Selene was tying up her hair into a ponytail, she noticed that the brothers were sharing a concerned look. But neither of them bothered to answer her question.

Seeing this caused Selene to lean forward, poking her head between the two boys. As she did this, whatever book was in Sam's lap slammed closed instantly and he casually covered it with his arm. Selene frowned her brows at this, confused what it possibly is that he was keeping from her.

"What is that?" Selene asked, knowing something was going on with the two boys in front of her. Sam didn't look at her as she asked her question, he looked over her at Dean who was driving.  Dean looked over and slightly shook his head to his brother, to which Sam just tilted his head in a way that was him trying to convince Dean of something. Selene sat up a little offended as she said, "Guys, I'm right here."

Finally Sam looked down at her, he opened his mouth to say something—by the look on his face it was something serious and important. But words never left his mouth, they left Dean's who said, "It's nothing. Just another one of dads journals."

Selene turned to look up at Dean driving, she narrowed her eyes in on him. By the way he refused to even glance at her, and his eyes remained sharp on the road—she knew he was hiding something. It was clear as day, even in the pitch black of the night, she read him plainly.

"Come on, we're here." Dean states as he pulls the car to a stop, making Selene look out the window at the apartment buildings in front of them. Selene sighs and rolls her eyes, frustrating that the boys thought it was okay to keep things from her. She knew one way or another, she'd get it out of them.

The three of them pile out of the car, making their way through the apartment building to the room they had found based on this mans plates. Sam picks the lock, and when Selene and Dean nod in confirmation that they were ready, Sam pushes it open. Allowing Selene and Dean to walk in first, both of them holding their guns up as they broke into the apartment.

"Freeze! Nobody move!" Dean shouts, as they spot two men sitting on the couch. But they jumped up as Dean shouted, both their hands held up in the air. Dean gets closer to them, urging them to back away from the table as he said, "Alright, give us the box and please tell me that you didn't—"

"Dean..." Selene cut him off, as she saw the box that the boys had told her about. Holding it up as Dean looked over at her, he realized it was completely empty, meaning they opened the box.
